Three casks. Three pieces of art. One moment.

This is what many have been waiting for - the first Northumbrian Single Malt from Ad Gefrin.

Crǣft (meaning ‘art’ or ‘skill’ in Old English) is a series of single cask releases, each one chosen for its individuality and character. Each offers a moment in the life of our spirit as it evolves.

In October 2025, as casks were sampled and assessed, a small number stood apart, unexpected in character, distinct in personality. Director of Distilling Ben Murphy recognised something in them worth sharing. In his words: “These are ready to be shared.”

Each cask is paired with an emerging North East artist whose practice responds to its character, a collaboration between maker and creator, between liquid and landscape. The result is three unique labels, each telling its own story.

Crǣft is not our final destination, but an early introduction, a first glimpse of our single malt ahead of the release of our core Ad Gefrin expression.

With only a limited number of bottles available across the three casks, purchases are restricted to one bottle per person. In the spirit of discovery, you will not know which cask you have secured until you break the seal of the box.

Corenkyn members receive exclusive early access to pre-order one bottle on 25th June at 9am. Public launch is on 1st August at 10am and is only available on site at Ad Gefrin.

Thirlings Gin, takes its name from a small settlement near the ancient royal site of Yeavering, where Thegns (land owners) once gathered and provided for the great feasting halls of Northumbria.

This , we raise a glass not only to that tradition, but to three years of Thirlings Gin, three years of sharing Northumberland’s story through flavour and hospitality.

Distilled and bottled in the heart of Northumberland, Thirlings brings together botanicals inspired by the land around us, heather and pine from the Cheviots, elderberries from hedgerows and sea buckthorn for coastal notes, creating a gin that is both rooted in place and made for celebration.

Far from just being a vessel for the spirit, the bottle tells its own authentic story. The stepped punt reflects the 7th Century wooden grandstand discovered on the ancient site, while the dimples in the glass echo the post holes that revealed the layout of the royal complex, details that helped archaeologists understand its scale and stature.

And inside, the spirit continues that storytelling. Every botanical, every note, and every pour is a reflection of place, provenance and people, a gin that carries Northumberland’s landscape and legacy in every glass.

Just as thegns once gathered around the table, Thirlings continues to bring people together today.

Step into Northumberland’s illicit whisky past.

Through sound, imagery, and storytelling, become immersed in the hidden world of illicit whisky-making as you move through a series of spaces on site.

Discover how hidden stills operated across the hills, how whisky was transported under the cover of darkness, and how the landscape protected its makers.

Along the way, guests experience three whisky moments that trace the full story of the spirit. It begins with a tasting of new make spirit, offering a raw insight into whisky at its earliest stage, directly from the still.

The experience continues with our carefully crafted Tácnbora, marking the first chapter of Northumberland’s modern whisky story.

The journey concludes in Bēodern with a final dram served with a traditional ram’s horn, alongside a simple Drovers Dish inspired by the food once carried along historic travelling routes.
