AN IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT TIPSY TEACUP 😔
Before the cat is well and truly out of the bag, we wanted to make sure our lovely customers heard the news directly from us.
After many conversations (and more than a few U-turns), Macoi and I have made the difficult decision to bring our Tipsy Teacup journey to an end.
As a family who started this journey with absolutely no hospitality experience, we’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved. From reaching No.1 on Trip Advisor after only 9 months (and staying there), to receiving amazing reviews, building a fantastic social media following and even having a few viral moments, it’s been far more than we ever imagined. Along the way we’ve overcome all the usual challenges that come with starting a business, as well as a few rather unusual ones (being burgled and exploding caramel tins spring to mind). It’s been the steepest learning curve of our lives, with incredible highs and some tough lows, but it’s a journey we will never regret.
The truth is, while we’ve been pouring our hearts into Tipsy, we’ve both had other projects quietly developing in the background. As we started planning Tipsy’s growth, a significant project in itself, it became clear that although we still love what we’ve created, we no longer have the passion needed to take it to the next level. We believe Tipsy deserves owners who are as excited about its future as we once were.
After nearly 2 years, the foundations are firmly in place. The hard work has been done, Tipsy has become a thriving, much loved business and is rapidly establishing itself as Worcesters go to destination for afternoon tea.
We don’t want to see everything we’ve built slowly fade away or quietly close its doors. Instead we’d love to pass Tipsy’s little legacy onto someone with fresh enthusiasm and new ideas, someone who can take it even further while building on everything that’s already been created. We’d love to leave knowing it’s in safe hands.
With the support of our wonderful landlord, we’re now beginning a planned transition and are looking for someone ready to take the reins. Like all hospitality businesses, running Tipsy will always come with it’s challenges, but it also comes with some fantastic opportunities, including a phased handover with our support, a flexible and supportive landlord, an established diary of future bookings with deposits already secured and, perhaps most importantly, a loyal community of customers who have made Tipsy such a special place.
If you-or someone you know-has ever wanted to own a unique, well established, hospitality business, we’d absolutely love to hear from you
You.
Sadly, if we don’t find the right people to continue the journey, then Tipsy will be closing come the end of December this year. Until then, it’s business as usual! We’ll still be serving up our shenanigans, delicious food, incredible afternoon teas and our trademark Fawlty towers-like service!
Finally, a huge THANK YOU! To our wonderful customers, our tearoom neighbours, our friends and our family and of course, our incredible staff, especially Yana and Gill! Your support has meant so much to us and quite simply, we couldn’t have achieved any of this without you all. We’re so grateful to everyone who has been part of the Tipsy story and although we’re a little bit sad to say goodbye, we’re excited for our new direction.
It’s been a hell of a ride!
