Roasters Choice // Colombia San Lorenzo

April’s subscription coffee is here, an exclusive micro-lot from the San Lorenzo producers; a group of indigenous farmers based in the Rio Sucio region of Caldas.

In October last year we visited some of the farms we’re buying from in this region. The communities have a very particular way of operating, this means the land of San Lorenzo can only be sold to members of the Embera Chamí tribe.

This law has created lots of small holdings where farmers grow sugar cane and plantain alongside their coffee.

In the cup ☕️ San Lorenzo has notes of apple, blackcurrant and toffee. Great sweetness and a wonderfully bright acidity.

Both sourced from producers we’ve visited and met - we’re thrilled to promote their work and share these coffees with our community

We’re starting with Fazenda De Moinho from Brazil 🇧🇷

This coffee will be the first in a series of new lots available for a limited time only.

In Brazil we’re working in Mantiqueira with Co-op Cocarive. If you work with Cocarive, you work with Baba! Swipe to meet him and see some behind-the-scenes footage from our most recent visit.

As Baba explains, Mantiqueira is a region that’s dominated the cup of excellence competition with their fabled yellow bourbon.

The coffee we’re featuring has all the classic qualities we love from Brazilian cups, alongside caramel, orange peel and hints of cointreau …

A washed coffee sourced from co-op Frontera in the Cajamarca region of northern Peru. ‘Los Amigos’ is a community lot from producers farming near the border of Ecuador, all working with the El Oso conservation project.

We travelled to Mantiqueira in Brazil last August - what we discovered completely reset our expectations of coffees from this incredible origin.

The first shipment to arrive has gone straight out to our Roasters Choice subscribers - an exclusive micro-lot from Fazenda Santa Rosa, one of three different lots we have selected with the help of our amazing partners in Brazil
