Kaeng Som is a traditional sour and spicy fish/prawn curry or soup with vegetables that are very popular in Southeast Asia. Thai, Lao, and Malaysian places all have their own unique touches to this particular dish. It is a clear soup/curry dish that does not contain coconut milk nor cream, and could be served with rice.

Fish and/or prawns could be included in this dish depending on preferences whilst the core ingredients of a paste called Nam Phrik Kaeng Som remains the same. Nam Phrik Kaeng Som is a unique curry paste with its own set of ingredients that gives this dish its special flavours. This is a healthy and delicious dish suitable for various kinds of diets.
