Gastronomy connects people! That's why we were thrilled to participate in JRE-Croatia Chefs@Sea project last week which for years has been bringing together top chefs from Croatia and Europe. The chefs do not just cook together; they dive deep into local flavors, ingredients, and stories. Each guest chef held a masterclass for the host restaurant's team, encouraging professional growth and the exchange of knowledge on both sides.
For this year's edition, Vila Rova and Chef Marin Pleše hosted Italian Chef Christian Benvenuto from La Filanda restaurant.
To show him the best of Krk island, we visited OPG Šegulja to taste their excellent olive oil and fig and melon jam, followed by the boutique winery San Apollinare, where we enjoyed local prosciutto, cheese, and our northernmost Pošip wine.
The highlight of the day was cooking in the Vila Rova garden overlooking the sea. Using freshly caught Kvarner scampi, Chef Benvenuto prepared a creamy risotto with lemon, almonds, and pickled fig leaf, along with an innovative octopus dish featuring an artichoke wrapped in edible silver. Chef Pleše prepared a buzara made with seabass stock and figs.
We rounded off this beautiful gathering with great conversation and a glass of Tomac Planet A sparkling wine. Check out the photo gallery below to feel the atmosphere!

Gastronomija spaja ljude! Zato smo bili oduševljeni što smo prošli tjedan sudjelovali u projektu JRE Hrvatske- Chefs@Sea, koji već godinama okuplja vrhunske chefove iz Hrvatske i Europe. Chefovi ne samo da kuhaju zajedno, već dubinski uranjaju u lokalne okuse, namirnice i priče. Svaki gostujući chef održao je masterclass za tim restorana domaćina, potičući profesionalni rast i razmjenu znanja s obje strane.
U sklopu ovogodišnjeg izdanja, Vila Rova i chef Marin Pleše ugostili su talijanskog chefa Christiana Benvenuta iz restorana La Filanda.
Kako bismo mu pokazali najbolje od otoka Krka, posjetili smo OPG Šegulja gdje smo kušali njihovo odlično maslinovo ulje te džem od smokve i dinje, a zatim i butiknu vinariju San Apollinare, gdje smo uživali u lokalnom pršutu, siru i našem najsjevernijem pošipu.
Vrhunac dana bilo je kuhanje u vrtu Vile Rova s pogledom na more. Koristeći svježe ulovljene kvarnerske škampe, chef Benvenuto pripremio je kremasti rižoto s limunom, bademima i ukiseljenim listom smokve, uz inovativno jelo od hobotnice s artičokom omotanom u jestivo srebro. Chef Pleše pripremio je buzaru od temeljca brancina i smokava.
