Some places are built with bricks.
Others are built with love, kindness and countless little moments.
This is one of them..
A few years ago, we chose to make Nusa Penida our home. Not just to open a restaurant, but to build a life connected to this beautiful island, its people and its community.
Sun of Suana was never meant to be just another restaurant. We wanted to create a place where people feel welcome. A place where strangers become friends, conversations happen naturally, good music fills the air, and for a little while, life slows down.
To us, hospitality is about so much more than serving food. It’s found in the little things: a genuine smile, taking time for a conversation, helping one another, remembering a familiar face, and making every guest feel at home.
We don’t believe it’s always the big things people remember most.
We hope that, for a little while, Sun of Suana feels less like a restaurant and a little more like home.
Our kitchen is open because we’re proud of what we do. Every meal is freshly prepared each day using quality ingredients, with honesty, care and attention to every detail.
You may notice a few dogs peacefully sleeping around the restaurant. They are part of our family. Some of them were abandoned before finding their way here. Today they are safe, well-fed, loved, and finally home. Looking after them isn’t something we do for attention—it’s simply part of who we are.
This island has given us so much, and we believe it’s important to give something back. We support local people and businesses, choose electric transportation whenever possible, and do our best to care for the island we’re fortunate enough to call home.
Behind everything you see is a small team that genuinely cares. We work hard, laugh together, support one another and keep learning every single day. We believe that when people enjoy working together, guests can feel it too.
Every guest who walks through our doors becomes a small part of our story. And in return, we hope Sun of Suana becomes a small part of yours.
Our greatest hope isn’t that you’ll remember our restaurant. It’s that you’ll remember how you felt while you were here.

P.S. If you see one of our dogs sleeping peacefully, please let them dream. Some of them had a difficult start in life before they found a safe place to call home.
