The Sadler's Well, Athboy

They say that Cheers is a friendly bar,
Where everyone knows your name.
We were lucky, down through the years, in Athboy
To have the Sadler's - which was the same.

No matter when you went in,
Whether with friends, or all alone,
You were always made feel very welcome,
You never lasted very long on your own.

Now if you liked racing or other sports,
It was just like a second home for you.
With Coronation Chicken wraps at half-time,
Followed by a cocktail sausage or two.

Late many evenings the pub came alive,
With musicians creating wonderful sounds.
The drinks were always best quality,
The staff were kept busy serving us rounds.

And even those of us who were non-drinkers,
Where welcomed as though we were at home,
It's fitting that all the tea and the kit-kats,
Get their own verse in this little poem.

Now there are some friends no longer with us
But memories of great times with them all still live on.
I hope they have found a similar bar
Where ever they have now all gone.

So to Mark, Helen and the two lads
Not forgetting Sandra, Gerry and Joe,
We send you our heartfelt thanks
And wish you good luck where ever you go.

Goodbye from The Sadler's,
It's official, we have departed.
Many friends have been made during our time at The Sadler's Well, great times have been had with many occasions and celebrations. We have witnessed numerous great sporting events together but as the saying goes ' all good things come to an end '
And so it is .
We would like to thank everyone for all the lovely comments and best wishes, they are much appreciated
