KNOW SOMEONE LOOKING FOR A SUMMER JOB?

The Algiers is looking for a Kitchen Porter, age 16+, to join our kitchen team in Baltimore.

We are not going to pretend it is glamorous. It is a busy, messy job involving plenty of dishes, pans, cleaning, and hard work.

It also comes with loud music, good food, kitchen banter, affectionate insults, proper work experience and the chance to learn how a professional kitchen operates.

No previous experience is needed. Reliability, energy, and a sense of humour are considerably more important.

Please share this with anyone who may be interested.

Applicants should message us themselves, including their name, age and summer availability.

Baltimore’s food map is filling in around us. The Algiers has found itself right in the middle of it.

So we’ll keep proper pints flowing, burgers on the griddle, West Cork seafood on the plate and tacos on the table—while mixing more margaritas than any sensible pub should probably admit to.

Mezze all around. Margaritas in the middle.

The Algiers. Going our own way since 1892.

Back bar from Done Deal: €200; Delivery: €300; Beer for volunteers: €1000.

🇺🇸 CORN DOGS FOR THE FOURTH 🇺🇸
Fifty years ago, at America’s Bicentennial, Ann and I each remember feeling enormously proud to be American. That pride came easily then.

As the country marks its 250th anniversary, our feelings are more complicated. We still love America — its people, its energy, its generosity and the belief that it can always become something better. But loving a country does not mean pretending to admire every direction it takes.

So this Fourth of July, we are keeping the celebration simple: a little nostalgia, a lot of affection and proper American corn dogs at The Algiers.

So today, no agenda. Just two Americans in Ireland, remembering the country we grew up believing in — and still hoping it finds its way back to its better self.

Corn dogs on the 4th of July.

Reaper & Rose Fire Tincture. 🔥

Th house-made tincture that gives The Donal its bite — our Spicy Margarita with just enough heat to wake everything up.

We make it with a mix of chiles including Carolina Reaper, habanero, jalapeño and Fresno, along with orange peel, a few cilantro stems, and dog rose petalsblooming right now inn Baltimore. Just a few drops and the margarita pops: bright, citrusy, floral, and properly spicy.

Trouble by the drop.

Ask for The Donal. Named for a man who likes his margaritas to bite back. 🌶️🍊🍸
