19 of us all got together in early January to discover some of the tricks of acting. It was an intro to acting for most of us. The photo above was taken after we all did a five minute monologue of a subject that we all found interesting

What a great way to learn about different techniques in presenting yourself and to have fun at the same time.

No homework, and no real stress or intensive learning needed, just pure craic and enjoyment and a sense of openness and willingness to try things

We were so lucky to have Jessica, from the West End House School culture center in Killarney to come and give the classes each week.

There is so much to experience in terms of script, language, and interpretation of character portrayal.

The energy you get for trying out new things has been so rewarding.

The next term begins April 13th in Di**le. Maybe you would join up for the next eight weeks if this might be of interest to you. Feel free to get in contact here or directly at West End House School in Killarney.

If you ever wish to take up karate and be part of a group that like to have a laugh and don't take themselves too seriously then karate in Lispole might be an idea for you. We are an adult group that get together on Thursday evenings at 6:30. We are under the Kerry Shotokan umbrella.

It's a great way to get fit that isn't too demanding on your body but keeps the joints moving and the blood pumping. In time you learn about katas and self-defense techniques. It's a great way to stay motivated and know a group that has your back at all times. Getting contact here or at the telephone number on the poster. All artwork images are courtesy of Galway Johnson and the Kerry Shotokan organization.

No need for augmented sound files for this little clip of the beautiful forests that we have nearby.

Check out the bird calls and the trees in this tranquil video footage.

Yesterday we had the day off to go to Killarney where the weather was just that typical December crisp but totally calm type of morning.

We love having tourists and travelers come to Kerry but it is also magnificent this time of year when there is no one around and you have the place to yourself.

Drop in the next time you're passing and I will tell you about similar walks in Annascaul.

Definitely worth checking out this one on Friday this week. See some original footage and a new take from Nuala Hayes, producer on this one. Nuala does some really good work and this should be a new take on Peig's life.

Is fiú go mór féachaint ar an gceann seo Dé hAoine an tseachtain seo. Féach ar roinnt píosaí scannáin bhunaidh agus cur síos nua ó Nuala Hayes, léiritheoir an cheann seo. Déanann Nuala obair iontach agus ba cheart go mbeadh cur síos nua ar shaol Peig anseo.

Peig: Queen of Irish Storytellers Storytelling with Nuala Hayes Live Animation by Rita Duffy Music by Aoife Granville

Step into the world of Peig, and rediscover the beauty, wit, and wisdom of her voice.

Join acclaimed storyteller and actor Nuala Hayes for an evocative evening celebrating the remarkable life and legacy of Peig Sayers – one of Ireland’s greatest storytellers as she shares a curated selection of Peig’s stories.

Celebrated artist Rita Duffy enhances the performance with digitally animated drawings, crafted live in response to the stories. The evening is enriched by live music from Aoife Granville, whose playing evokes the soul of West Kerry. Peig Sayers (1873–1958) has long been misunderstood. This event seeks to restore her rightful place as the Queen of Irish Storytellers and a woman of immense cultural importance.

The next death cafe is on March 7th at 7 pm in Annascaul at Aido's Cafe and Pottery. Our last death cafe took place on Jan 31st. It was well attended and a lot of interesting viewpoints came up from those that were there.

We spoke with people that work in hospice scenarios and advise on best practice scenarios. We also spoke of people who had near death experiences and how they live their lives and the joy they get from life as a result. Often dreams can awaken things in us that we associate with people who have died and the triggers that might allow us to do things differently in the future.

We spoke of the consolation that people can give to those that are experiencing and grieving in advance of a loved one dying.

These meetings usually happen once a month and are a lovely way to spend time with those that wish to speak on the topic of death that they would not usually get a chance to. Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. There is no charge though we do ask for a donation for a charity of choice.
