Today, our school community mourns the loss of a truly remarkable woman, teacher and colleague, Caitriona Sweeney.
Caitriona joined our school community in 1994 and from that moment became an integral part of the life, heart and spirit of our school. Over many years of dedicated service, she touched the lives of countless students, families and colleagues through her kindness, professionalism, wisdom and unwavering commitment to education.
As a teacher of Maths until 2013, Caitriona had a wonderful ability to connect with students and inspire confidence in them. She believed in the potential of every young person and worked tirelessly to support, encourage and guide them. She was patient, caring and respected by students, many of whom carried her kindness and encouragement with them long after they had left school.
To her colleagues, Caitriona was much more than a teacher. She was a loyal friend, a trusted colleague, a source of support and wisdom, and someone whose quiet strength and warmth brought comfort to so many.
Caitriona leaves behind a lasting legacy within our school, one built on care, dignity, kindness, professionalism and genuine dedication to others. The impact she had on this school community cannot truly be measured, because it lives on in the many lives she shaped throughout her career.
At this very sad time, our thoughts and prayers are with her brother Pat, sister-in-law Cathy, nephew James, niece Keyla, the extended Sweeney family, her friends, former colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
May the beautiful memories of Caitriona bring comfort in the difficult days ahead, and may her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
