Day 6 โ€“ Lourdes ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ™

After a long journey from La Rochelle in soaring temperatures, we have finally arrived in Lourdes.

Tired bodies, sore feet, but a great sense of accomplishment. Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way.

The journey is complete, and the Lourdes experience begins.

Day 5 ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Mont-de-Marsan โžก๏ธ Pau.

Today was a tough one. We rolled into the foothills of the Pyrenees and straight into Tour de France territory. The roads seemed to go up all day, and with every mile the mountains got a little bigger on the horizon.

Pau is one of cycling's great cities, so it felt special to arrive there under our own steam.

The legs are feeling it tonight, but we're one day closer to Lourdes.

Turth or Tale: Part 6 - Limerick Windmills

It was once the base of a windmill that stood proudly above the city.

When people think of windmills, they picture Holland or the hills of Montmartre in Paris. But centuries ago, Limerick had its own. The round stone structure on High Street is one of the few surviving reminders of a time when wind powered industry in the city.

The sails are long gone, but the base remains โ€” quietly telling the story of a forgotten piece of Limerick's skyline.

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ Day 4 Complete ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Today was the longest day of the journey so far, with an incredible 140km covered on the road from Limerick to Lourdes.

There were plenty of tough climbs, tired legs, and long stretches of road, but the group continues to power on with great determination. Most importantly, everyone is in good spirits, keeping well, and supporting each other every pedal of the way.

Every kilometre brings us one step closer to Lourdes and reminds us why we started this journey in the first place. The encouragement from home has been a huge boost and is greatly appreciated by everyone taking part.

Thank you for following our progress. Tomorrow brings another day, another challenge, and another opportunity to make memories on this remarkable pilgrimage.

๐Ÿšดโ˜€๏ธ Day 3: Into Bordeaux โ€“ Heat, Grit & Determination โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿšด

Day 3 saw the cyclists roll into the beautiful city of Bordeaux after another demanding day on the road.

With temperatures soaring to 36ยฐC, today's challenge wasn't just the distanceโ€”it was the relentless heat. Every kilometre required resilience, discipline, and teamwork as the group pushed through the sweltering conditions on their journey.

Despite the scorching weather, spirits remained high, water bottles were constantly being refilled, and the miles continued to tick by. Arriving in Bordeaux was a well-earned reward after a day that tested both body and mind.

These are the days that remind us why endurance cycling is about more than just turning pedals. It's about determination, camaraderie, and finding the strength to keep moving forward when conditions are at their toughest.

Tomorrow brings another stage, another challenge, and another opportunity to make memories on this incredible journey.

๐Ÿ‘ Well done to James and everyone in the group

TRUTH OR TALE? ๐Ÿ‘€ | Part 5

๐Ÿ  This building was once a toll collectorโ€™s house on the Kingโ€™s Road (or Yellow Road)...

Before cars, buses, and even bicycles, travellers moving along the old route into Limerick may have had to stop and pay a toll to continue their journey. Some local stories claim this building served as the toll collector's house, where fees were gathered from carts, livestock, and merchants using the road.

๐Ÿ’ฐ๐ŸŽ Imagine arriving with a horse and cart loaded with goods, only to be greeted by a collector looking for payment before lifting the barrier!

But is there any proof? Or is it simply one of those stories that has been passed from generation to generation, growing a little taller with each retelling?

๐Ÿค” So what do you think?

๐Ÿ‘ TRUTH โ€“ It really was a toll collector's house on the King's (Yellow) Road.

โค๏ธ TALE โ€“ A great story, but nothing more than local folklore.
