Hi Guys,

Ervin & Maria here in Fawn, and we would like to tell you a little bit about our 5th Winemaker Dinner.

We are extra excited for this one, as it will be a very special night for many reasons!

Frigyes and Zsuzsa are great friends of ours, and we are so happy to welcome them here in Oranmore. They have welcomed us in their home in Radvan nad Dunajom, many many times, with tremendous hospitality. We had the privilege to taste their wines from barrel in the cellar every year in the past few years. Frigyes is one of our favorite winemakers and all of his wines that were available here in Ireland were with us since the beginning of Fawn and longer, and they are confidently growing into a favorite amongst our guests.
To celebrate this connection, we are building a special menu, an Irish - Hungarian themed tasting menu, to go along with the wines that are made from indigenous grape varieties of Central Europe. We will have Furmint, Harslevelu, Leanyka, Kekfrankos & Kadarka, and also some back vintages of Furmint and Riesling that we kept aside for a few years for this event.

We love to work with these wines, because they are true examples of what these rarely seen and widely unknown varieties are capable of. They are clean, pure, textured & complex, yet lively and so much fun to drink. Maria often controversially describes them as โ€œBurgundian likeโ€ wines from Central-East Europe.

Last Friday (15th) we had the fortune to host, for our fourth Winemaker Dinner, the wonderful Mateja Gravner of the iconic winery of Oslavija, in Friuli, Northern Italy.

We were pairing local ingredients with legendary Gravner amber & red wines made from Ribolla Gialla ๐Ÿงกand Pignolo ๐Ÿ‡ varieties.
