We were deeply honored today by an unannounced visit from Shri Ninad S. Deshpande (IFS), Director-General of the India Taipei Association—a true gentleman representing the height of Indian diplomacy.
Our journey has always been about building a sincere cultural bridge. To see that vision recognized by Shri Deshpande today brings us back to the foundation laid at our opening by Director-General Stephen Hsu, Taipei Economic and cultural Centre in Chennai and Mr. Miyata Kenji, Deputy Consul-General of Japan, —alongside former T. Nagar MLA Shri J. Karunanithi.

2026 TAIWAN MAAMI CONCEPT: THE LUMINOUS BOX
Luxury is never a coincidence; it is an evolution.
To understand the soul of our new Anna Nagar sanctuary, you have to look at the architectural journey and the deep intentionality that shaped our spaces from the very beginning. We have always believed that a restaurant shouldn’t just look pretty—it should tell a story through physical theater.
In 2024, we broke ground on our very first location at Palladium Mall. Our Managing Director, Theresa Hu, was the site manager on the ground to lay the bricks and build her design concept titled The Rose Garden—a deliberate reflection of her rose garden in England. It was an exercise in bringing organic warmth, romance, and botanical lingering into a modern retail landscape.
By the second quarter of 2025, our standalone T Nagar Flagship came to life, debuting our second design chapter: The Crimson Dream of the East. Here, the narrative deepened. We extended the garden aesthetic outdoors, while indoors, Theresa introduced custom, imported red-and-gold landscape wallpapers and put up her ancestor’s botanical painting—a fierce architectural frame designed to echo her family’s deepest artistic lineage.
Now, in June 2026, Anna Nagar represents the ultimate culmination of this trilogy.
By harmonising the romantic, soft botanicals of The Rose Garden with the bold heritage of The Crimson Dream of the East, Theresa has engineered our latest visual identity: The Luminous Box.
We invite you to watch us put the final, meticulous touches on this interior transformation. Our doors are officially open for our soft launch phase. Come experience the early glow of the space, and indulge in our premium brewed tea collections and fresh, handcrafted mochi.

When I started Taiwan Maami, the goal was to bring an uncompromising standard of East Asian culinary craftsmanship to India. 5-star quality, authentic bubble tea with boba imported from Taiwan, and zero shortcuts.
Following T Nagar and Palladium Mall, our next step had to be perfect.
While our culinary team perfects the menu, my husband and co-founder, Kannan Swamy, has been the engineering force—building the proprietary Taiwan Maami Tech Stack that drives our entire operational engine in high efficiency behind the scenes.
Thanks to our teams working day and night, the stage is officially set. TAIWAN MAAMI - Anna Nagar is to open its doors on 21st June.
