Muhammara is a dip hailing from Syria, from the city of Aleppo. The flavors are sweet, earthy, just a bit smokey, and ideal when eaten with fresh pita. In Arabic, the word is pronounced as “mhamara.” The word muhammara is derived from the Arabic word ahmar, which literally means red, and it very adequately describes the vibrant color you’ll get from making the dip.
While the dish originated in the Syrian city of Aleppo, many variations of it are served across most of the Middle East.
The main ingredients of this recipe are roasted red bell peppers, walnuts, a blend of spices like cumin & Aleppo pepper, & pomegranate molasses.
The Muhamarrah is extremely popular on our Mezze menu and we serve ours with freshly baked pita!
