The holy month of Ramzan is the perfect time to get your fix of Haleem!

Haleem is made of wheat, barley, mutton or beef, lentils and a whole array of spices. It is typically cooked for 8 plus hours, which results in well blended, deep flavors and a paste like consistency. Its topped with crispy onions, cilantro and lemon juice. It’s a one pot meal of happiness. It’s typically eaten during Ramzan as it’s a balanced meal that provides a lot of sustenance to the body during the daily fasts.

A close friend, helped a bunch of us navigate Muhammad Ali road (the Minara Masjid Khau Gali) this last Friday. That street is the ultimate paradise in Mumbai for Ramzan eats. You really have to brave the crowds and have a lot of patience during the whole experience. But the amazing varierty of scrumptous food makes it well worth it! We savored some brilliant dishes there. I highly recommend making your way there before the end of Ramzan.
