CCIK Appeals Administration to Restore Power, Water Supply and Road Connectivity After Snowfall
Restoration of electricity, road clearance and drinking water must be top priority: CCIK
Snowfall likely to boost tourism and overall economy of Kashmir
Srinagar, January 23:-
In view of the recent snowfall across the Kashmir Valley, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK), Tariq Ghani, on Friday urged the government and district administrations to give top priority to the restoration of electricity, road connectivity and drinking water supply.
Ghani said that priority roads should be cleared immediately, followed by restoration of power supply and smooth functioning of air services, so that daily life is not disrupted and economic activities continue without hindrance.
He said that people had been eagerly waiting for snowfall and are thankful to Almighty Allah that it finally arrived. However, he expressed concern over the damage caused by gusty winds, which has affected several houses in different areas. He appealed to the administration to provide immediate relief and assistance to the affected families so that common people do not suffer during the harsh winter.
Ghani emphasized that timely and moderate snowfall is beneficial, whereas sudden melting can create serious problems. He expressed hope that more snowfall will occur in the coming days in a gradual and manageable manner.
The CCIK President also thanked the Honourable Chief Minister for holding consultations with stakeholders from industry, horticulture, agriculture, tourism, higher education and other sectors. He expressed hope that the suggestions and recommendations shared during these consultations would be duly considered while finalising the upcoming budget.
Ghani said that the snowfall will not only boost tourism in the Valley but will have a positive impact on the entire economy of Kashmir. He added that winter games, snow-based activities and initiatives like Khelo India will further enhance Kashmir’s appeal as a major winter tourism destination.
