The upcoming pastoral visit of Pope Leo XIV to Spain will bring global attention to Madrid, Barcelona and the Canary Islands, turning a moment of deep spiritual and cultural significance into a driver of tourism demand, economic activity and destination visibility.

As highlighted in the latest analysis by the World Travel & Tourism Council, insights from platform show that:

🔸 Pope’s visit to Madrid between 6–9 June is expected to generate around €73.8M in incremental tourism spending, driven by the estimated 1.8M attendees expected to participate in the various events.

🔸 F&B is expected to account for the largest share of visitor spending (€57.3M), followed by transport at €12.0M and accommodation at €4.5M.

🔸 Average hotel prices in Madrid for the weekend of 5-7 June 2026 stand at €298 per night, up 4.5% compared with the same weekend last year.
