✨Balbosté X formalghting

Paris treated us with an unforgettable experience crafted just for our guests by the creative culinary studio Balbosté led by Charlotte Sitbon.

Albert Einstein once said, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

Every element of the event allowed us to be swept up in a gentle, constant flow, yet it also let us savor brief moments of suspension and wonder. Throughout the experience, our lighting was used to enhance and elevate the beauty of the exquisite culinary creations.

✨ From LiGHT25 to Paris

Back in November, during our competition, the Women in Lighting community selected Dorit Bagehorn as the winner of a very special prize: a trip to attend Enlighten Europe 2026 in Paris, generously sponsored by .

This week, we were delighted to finally welcome Dorit to the City of Light and share two inspiring days of learning, connection, and conversation with the global lighting community.

From thought-provoking presentations and new perspectives to memorable community moments, Enlighten Europe once again reminded us how valuable it is to come together, exchange ideas, and continue learning from one another.

A huge thank you to for making this opportunity possible and for supporting initiatives that create meaningful experiences for our community.

✨ Dorit’s reflection:

I would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Formalighting for presenting the stunning umbrellas and the inspiring challenge for the photograph, as well as to the lighting community for voting for my picture!

Participating in the IALD Enlighten Europe Conference in the enchanting city of lights has been an incredible experience. The presentations and interactions with the speakers were outstanding, sparking inspiration and curiosity in me to delve deeper into various topics. Besides new and thought-provoking subjects, it was particularly valuable to learn about the projects undertaken by other practices, their challenges, and the innovative solutions they devised - some great examples of thinking outside the box!

Every moment not spent in learning and expanding my knowledge was devoted to our wonderful community - our lighting family. I am immensely grateful for the memorable moments, engaging conversations, and shared experiences we enjoyed together.

Thank you once again to Formalighting for making this all possible!

Thank you, Dorit, for joining us in Paris. We hope this experience leaves you with many new ideas, connections, and memories to take home.

✨Our participation as a sponsor of the IALD Enlighten Europe 2026 conference, which has just concluded in the romantic Ville Lumière, gave us the opportunity to spend three inspiring days filled with outstanding educational sessions and to hear from some of the brightest minds in the global lighting industry.

Our team, represented on site by Ettore Lecchi Valeria Garavaglia and Emanuele Gaspari, is still excited from the experience, both in terms of professional development and valuable new connections.

The tone was set right from the opening ceremony with speeches by IALD President Carla Wilkins, ACE President Vincent Thiesson, and Akari-Lisa Ishii.

From highly inspiring keynote presentations, such as that of Professor Ian Ritchie, exploring the intersections of science, art, engineering, philosophy, and technology, to in-depth discussions of remarkable lighting projects, including the Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi by Studio Lumen and the Cologne Cathedral by Licht Kunst Licht AG, and sessions focused on innovation and new tools available to lighting designers, from sensors to AI, the stage welcomed an exceptional lineup of speakers.

Among them were Yah Li Toh Light Collab, Daniel Green Into Lighting , Dean Skira Skira, Charles Stone Fisher Marantz Stone, Julia Hartmann Lightsphere Lighting, Francesca Bastianini Sighte Studio, Jorge Romero Lighting Design Collective, Sabine De Shutter Studio De Schutter, Anne Bureau, Anna-Kristin Bochnia, Luciana Alanis, Kelly Roberts, Paul Beale, Martin Lupton, and Sharon Stammers.

Conferences like these are invaluable to us. They help us stay informed, inspired, and prepared to provide the very best support to the exceptional designers we have the privilege of collaborating with every day on cutting-edge projects around the world.

We also sincerely hope you enjoyed taking part in our “Revolving Roundtable” session, as much as we did!

👏Congratulations to the entire IALD team for the flawless organization of another outstanding event.

See you next year!

💬We invited designers who have placed their trust in us over the years, to share the story of their personal relationship with light.
by Lighting Designer Martina Frattura | The Beauty Movement Martina Frattura

✨formalighting: “As a designer, what is your relationship with lighting?"
Martina Frattura: "To me, light is the very symbol of permeability: a true bridge between our body and the world around us, shaping every aspect of our experience. Light is also synonymous with beauty: when we design it, beauty reveals itself, often sparking reactions much like those ‘wow’ moments we feel when something truly moves us.”

✨formalighting: “In everyday life, what is your relationship with light?"
Martina Frattura: “Always drawn to the play of brilliance, light fuels my curiosity and brings me back to the present moment. Every time I notice something that catches my eye, such as a small rainbow reflected somewhere, a sharply defined shadow or even a komorebi effect dancing on top of an industrial surface, I’m reminded of its quiet magic.”

And you, what is your daily relationship with light?

✨[𝐝]𝐚𝐫𝐜 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 AMERICAS 2026
📆2 - 5 June 2026
📍Kempinski Hotel, Cancun, Mexico

Here are some highlights from the wonderful days in Mexico, where our fantastic team, represented by Teresa Hortega and Nazin Bahmani, had the opportunity to meet and engage with outstanding lighting designers and lighting professionals, attend inspiring educational sessions, and enjoy valuable exchanges with colleagues from across the industry.

We particularly appreciated the roundtable discussions organized by the Darc Media team, which offered insightful perspectives and in-depth reflections on the ever-evolving lighting industry.

Here are some of the key takeaways we brought home:

Stephen Kaye of Mulvey & Banani, Naomi Coffin of Cosentini Associates, David Ghatan of CM Kling + Associates, and Carlos Hano of Lightchitects discussed the topic of AI and its impact on the lighting design profession. They emphasised that artificial intelligence is a valuable tool that professionals need to understand and learn to use effectively to improve design efficiency: a guide, an assistant that we direct and guide, as it cannot replace human creativity, relationships or lived experience.

Special thanks also to Magali Méndez of SAAS Lighting, Fernanda Malagon of Lux Populi, Paulina Villalobos of DIAV, and Juan Pablo Lira of Focus Lighting for sharing their expertise and raising awareness during their “Neuroarchitecture, Wellbeing, and Wellness” roundtable discussion, highlighting the important role that lighting and design play in influencing human behavior.

We would also like to congratulate Mariana Novaes of Atiaîa Lighting Design, who, during her keynote presentation, guided us through the Memorial Brumadinho project in Brazil, recently awarded at the darc awards in the SPACE – Best Interior Landscape Scheme category.

👉See you at the next darc sessions!

The new Satinine Boutique in Milan, home to the historic Milanese luxury fragrance brand, has been designed by interior designer Mara Bragagnolo and illuminated by lighting designer Martina Frattura. The project pays tribute to Milan’s elegant entrance halls, blending craftsmanship and traditional perfumery through a contemporary design approach.

The lighting scheme has been carefully conceived both to enhance the interiors, gently illuminating the refined materials with a soft and diffused glow, such as the burl wood and the red marble of the counters and the oak boiserie, and to be seamlessly integrated into the furnishings, highlighting the fragrances while creating a truly multisensory customer experience.

The result is a bespoke lighting project with a high color rendering index and meticulous attention to detail.
A key objective of the lighting designer was to create soft, layered reflections that enhance visitors’ awareness of their presence within the space, reconnecting them with their senses.

Stepping into the Satinine store and experiencing its “ritual journey of fragrance discovery,” visitors immediately sense the essence of Milan: a city where rigor, intimacy, tradition and innovation come together.

The extensive lighting renovation of the Ashdod Museum of Art was carried out based on a project by Hilla Mayer, featuring a cutting-edge infrastructure capable of supporting a wide variety of temporary exhibitions while enhancing the museum’s distinctive spatial character.

Passage spaces were treated with restraint through minimal linear lighting and precisely positioned TicTok spotlights by formalighting, reducing visual clutter while maintaining maximum curatorial flexibility.

Sustainability was placed at the core of the project: the lighting system prioritises modular luminaires with long-life LED technology, replaceable components, and excellent colour rendering (CRI 95–97+), ensuring both energy efficiency and accurate artwork presentation. Individual dimming on each fixture allows intuitive operation without reliance on complex control systems, reducing long-term operational demands while enabling curators to adapt lighting conditions for each exhibition.
