One of the functions of work that is taught via “Principles of Business” is to gain the satisfaction of being one’s own boss. This was one of the guiding principles that led vegan couple Alfred and Keteis Brissett to venture into entrepreneurship. It all started in their early twenties when they both resigned their jobs at GraceKennedy and Red Stripe respectively, (Keteis a former GraceKennedy Com

munications Officer and Alfred, a former Red Stripe Mechanical Engineer). This decision was met with grave opposition from family and friends who thought they were but making a huge mistake. Today, they effectively communicate and engineer menus while simultaneously creating an environment conducive to a healthy lifestyle. Their love for people, natural living and eating prompted them to open Veggie Meals On Wheels (VMOW) in Regal Plaza in 2010 with limited resources. Their story is one of smart work, endurance and determination. They took the bold step of re-using tyres and other natural resources to offset cost for the décor of their outside dining facility, turning trash into treasure. With plants budding and blossoming in decorated tryes, bamboo sheds and thatched roof for dining, one can attest to the tropically green and gorgeous ambience of Veggie Meals On Wheels complemented by a pleasant and co-operative staff. The beautifully painted U-haul truck that has been transformed into a vegetarian kitchen is quite unique and innovative and daily produces a variety of tasty vegertarian meals and beverages. From Green Island Stew, Sorrel tofu, Barbecue Chunks, Ackee with strips of sweet potato to Ethiopian Rice, Golden Quest (Turned Cornmeal), Ground provisions, steamed bammy, Firm and Strong (raw nut shake),topped with a food for thought at the end of one’s meal; everyday at VMOW is a breathtaking and enjoyable food experience. Alfred “Ibby” Brissett and his wife have a passion to serve, and does so daily at VMOW through the promotion of eating, living and thinking healthy. They encourage others to pursue their passion with a clear vision of affirming that “the ends we serve that are for self, will take us no further but ourselves, but the ends that we serve that are for all in common will take us even into eternity”(Marcus Garvey).

But be bless to know that The Nobonezone is working with your budget standard affordable prices for locals and visitors

If you are from a big city with an already high cost of living like New York, Los Angeles, or London, food prices might not seem exorbitant to you. If you shop at Trader Joes versus a garden variety supermarket like Meijer or Walmart, prices might seem similar. Otherwise, it might surprise you to know that many fruits and vegetables and items that are not heavily consumed by locals will be more expensive than you would imagine. This will be especially true if you are in the more touristy areas of Jamaica.
