About our name – Mise en Place (pronounced “meez on plahss”) is a French culinary term that refers to the organization and preparation of all ingredients and equipment to be used in cooking or serving food. The literal translation is “set in place”. It was a phrase that MEP founder and managing director Sean Collins heard countless times while studying at Johnson and Wales College of Food Innovation and Technology in the USA.

24 years in, and the heart of everything we do still comes down to our people. At the end of June, the Mise en Place & Co family came together to celebrate, recognise our shining stars, and remind ourselves why we do what we do.

We've grown a lot since those early days. But growth was never the whole story. As we reflect on the first half of the year, success means something deeper - it’s rooted in our purpose, our Cayman community, and the team that shows up with heart every day.

From party games to karaoke to the photobooth chaos we didn't know we needed the night was everything.

In June, our Yum team and Executive Chef Willie spent some time at Tiny Tots hosting a Yum Club - a hands‑on session designed to help children learn about food, explore new flavours, and build confidence through creativity.

During the session they built their own burgers with a full spread of toppings and condiments. Some tried ingredients for the very first time, others engineered the tallest burger imaginable, and a few added a signature ketchup smiley face.
Watching them experiment, taste, and proudly show off their creations was the highlight of our day.

A heartfelt thank you to Tiny Tots for welcoming our team - these community connections are at the heart of our purpose.

With a background in architecture and design, she approaches events with both artistry and precision - shaping celebrations where layout, atmosphere, and culinary detail work together seamlessly. With over six years’ experience in the industry, she brings calm structure to complex moments and creativity to every detail.

Since arriving in Cayman in 2023, Arpitha has helped craft weddings and special occasions that feel polished, personal, and beautifully executed. She thrives in the rhythm of event day: the preparation, the coordination, the quiet problem‑solving, and the final reveal when everything comes together.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with students who are exploring their next steps and shaping their future paths.
