The Blue Note Café lost a very dear family member yesterday. Bassam Saba was one of the musicians that made many of us happy with his presence and his music for over 33 years. His musical contributions have left us with a legacy of unforgettable moments. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace.

Due to the upcoming developments related to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and in compliance with the Syndicate of Restaurant Owners decision to close all restaurants on Lebanese lands, the Blue Note Café will be closed for the next 15 days, awaiting further updates on the situation. We wish all our friends good health and looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Dear Blue Note Friends,
According to the decisions of the Corona Virus Follow-up Committee, the Minister of Tourism, Professor Ramsay Al-Mshrafiya, issued a second circular, in continuation of the circular issued last Saturday, 7/3/2020, which stated: “In order to preserve public safety And the safety of citizens: The Minister of Tourism made a decision to close pubs, nightclubs and public discos, until March 15, 2020.
The decision is also to prevent other tourist institutions to hold any parties or artistic programs of all categories and all kinds, provided that restaurants and cafes are only allowed to keep their work provided that they do not perform any concerts or artistic and musical events.
Minister Al- Mshrafiya addressed “restaurant establishments” of all categories, asking them to adhere to the preventive measures and public safety guidelines issued by the Syndicate of Restaurant, Café and Patisserie owners in Lebanon to limit the spread of the Corona virus.
The Blue Note Café Restaurant will remain open as usual for lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday but all musical events will be canceled for this week awaiting further announcements.

أيها الأصدقاء الأعزاء،
بناءً على مقرّرات لجنة متابعة التدابير والإجراءات الوقائية ل فيروس كورونا، أصدر وزير السياحة البروفسور رمزي المشرفية تعميماً ثانٍ، استكمالاً للتعميم الذي صدر يوم السبت الفائت بتاريخ 7/3/2020، جاء فيه: "حفاظاً على السلامة العامة وسلامة المواطنين؛ اتّخذ وزير السياحة قراراً بإقفال الحانات الليلية (pubs) إلى جانب الملاهي والنوادي الليلية والمراقص العامّة التي سبق وأصدر تعميماً باقفالها لغاية 15 آذار ضمناً.
وقرّر منع المؤسسات السياحية الاخرى إقامة أي حفلات أو برامج فنيّة بفئاتها كافة وعلى مختلف أنواعها، على أن يقتصر السماح للمطاعم والمقاهي بالإبقاء على عملها شرط أن لا تقوم بأي حفلات أو مناسبات فنّية وموسيقية .
وتوجّه المشرفية إلى "المؤسسات المطعمية" بمختلف فئاتها طالباً منها التقيّد بإجراءات الوقاية وإرشادات السلامة العامة الصادرة عن نقابة أصحاب المطاعم والمقاهي والملاهي والباتيسري في لبنان للحدّ من إنتشار فيروس كورونا.
سيبقى مطعم Blue Note Café مفتوحًا كالمعتاد لتناول الغداء والعشاء من الاثنين إلى السبت ، ولكن سيتم إلغاء جميع الحفلات الموسيقية لهذا الأسبوع في انتظار مزيد من الإعلانات.

The Blue Note Café celebrated its 30th anniversary on December 4, 2017, at 9 pm, in a special event, exclusive to press, media and musicians.

The program will included many of the musicians who have contributed to 30 years of quality live music on the Beirut scene.

The Blue Note Café, established in 1987, is the main Live Band Jazz Restaurant in Beirut. Located in the Hamra area on Makhoul street near AUB, for the last 30 years, Blue Note Café has been hosting a selection of local and international jazz celebrities and musicians every week. Famous musicians like Sonny Fortune, Charles Davis, Andrew Hill, Chico Freeman, Eddy King, Ziad Rahbani and Charbel Rouhana have played on its stage. In addition to Jazz, its weekly program also includes Live Bands playing Blues, Latin, Funk, Oldies, Arabic and Oriental music.
