Located in the heart of Cabo & ranked #1 Dance Club by locals & tourists alike Like all bad ideas, it came late one night in 1988 when Carlos Anderson called for one more chalupa, and I ordered another round of mezcal. Carlos thought it would be a great idea to recreate an old building he liked from a mining town someplace he had drawn on a bar napkin. Whenever Carlos gets an idea, he writes it do
wn on whatever is closest; sometimes, butcher paper or even scraps of envelopes. His ideas were always brilliant, so I left Carlos O’Brian’s in Puerto Vallarta & moved to the Baja California Sur desert. It was then that we rented an old warehouse & started work on it. This resulted in a two-story ramshackle-looking structure of rusted, galvanized iron sheets welded to steel beams and open to the air at both ends. Inside the walls, all kinds of things are found, from photos of Mexican Revolutionaries to funny signs("Perfect English Broken Here"), and a lot of what looks like junk - but it is artful junk. As you would expect, there is no dress code. We consider proper attire our t-shirt with our name on it, shorts, and maybe some of our bbq sauce on your face. As years went by, some strange characters joined the team, making the experience even more peculiar today. After realizing there wasn’t enough space for guests who dine, dance, and roam through the floor, we decided to add a third floor. Somehow this seemingly “bad” idea became brilliant. Party animals found the watering hole in Cabo, as we hosted some very memorable nights that attracted the likes of Beyoncé, Dana White, Mariah Carey, Floyd Mayweather, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Rihanna, Oscar De La Hoya, Alex Rodriguez, Tony Romo, Tito Ortiz, 50 Cent, and many other celebrities. After noticing all the customers roaming outside early morning, asking for a tour of the place, I decided to shower early and open the doors from 9 am for breakfast. Yes, we have a stove. And our fresh pescado is locally sourced. Open every day for breakfast, lunch & table-side prepared dinner - get the pepper steak! Over three decades later, we are still wingin’ it! Featuring a world-class L Acoustics sound system with an unrelenting soundtrack, a giant disco ball that shoots all our light effects across the venue, large LED displays to watch the big game, and liter-size drinks to quench your thirst, at El Squid Roe, we offer an unparalleled, high-energy, one-of-a-kind nightlife experience. But the best part is our guests. They make the best headliners as you are easily entertained by party-goers on top of tables, putting on a show each night. As locals and tourists alike agree, this place has been an icon in Cabo for decades. Sincerely,
EL BILLY
