For every cup sold at DRE, 1% goes into a staff pool. That's not a marketing line. It's how we structured the business from day one.
Here's the thinking behind it.
The person who takes your order, brews your coffee, and hands it to you โ they're the reason the transaction happens. Without them, there's no cafรฉ. Just an empty room with expensive machines.
Most coffee chains pay their staff a fixed wage. The busier the shift, the same paycheck. The harder they work, the same paycheck. That never felt right to us.
At DRE, when you order more coffee, our team earns more. When the outlet does well, they benefit directly. Their income is tied to the outcome โ not just the hours.
It's a small percentage. But across thousands of cups, it adds up. And more importantly, it changes the relationship between staff and business. They're not just employees. They have a real stake.
Because if the coffee industry is going to reward anyone, it should include the people actually making the coffee.
