99% packed and emptied.

As we close these shutters, load the car and drove away, grief caught up.

This will be the last time both of us were in this place, one last time, together. I’ll still be in tomorrow to hand over the keys to the next guys.

But the car ride home, was one of the longest, silent, somber rides. Reality finally meets us, the final day.

There’s more joy, certainly the last 2 years, Joy outweighs the blood sweat and tears. But tonight, we grieve until we can fully move on with joy.

Thank you all who’ve journeyed with us, your company truly made it better!

[CLOSING NOTICE]

It was roughly about 10 years back when the name Road To Emmaus came to mind.
The name inspired by a book, and some personal convictions from my life experiences.

It always has been a focus on community, a space to bond within friends, connecting with the people that walk through, creating safe working space especially with the young-hearted souls that is our team.

I believe we’ve achieved all these the last 2 years being in this space, and when our lease comes to an end, we’ve decided to move on to new journeys in life.

Thank you all of you who’ve walked through our doors, shared part of your life with us, and stayed until the end. Our journey has been sweeter because of you.

Thank you for supporting us from our very first opening in 2019 till now.

We’re celebrating our first anniversary at our new location at UOA Business Park, Glenmarie ( THE PODIUM TOWER 3, UG-02), accessible by LRT (Subang Jaya Station) or car ( RM3 parking on weekends).

This would be a one-time Saturday opening just to cater to friends & fam who are working hard on the weekdays and can’t get their pesto fixes 😉 We’re grateful for all of you.

Our mothers | Celebrating mothers today for their love, sacrifice, nurturing and strength. If it weren’t for these women, we wouldn’t be who we are today ( even Emmaus - quite literally!)

This memory features Yang’s mom (left) and Liesl’s mom (right) all dressed up for a wedding dinner. You have no idea how much they contribute to the construction and running of our café! We owe them our most heartfelt thanks.

We also said a prayer today for mothers experiencing unique circumstances - grief, loss, pain, loneliness, for those of us who have lost our mothers, for women struggling to conceive and for those of us with strained relationships with our mothers. May you find peace, comfort and warm company in the midst of your struggles 🫂

Friendship | ‘Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.’

Having gone through the pandemic, we have come to realised that we are relational beings. No one is meant to be in isolation.

Having friends that we trust in our lives shouldn’t be a ‘nice-to-have’ but a ‘must-have’. Some say the same things about coffee, too.

Life’s a journey, having company makes it better (maybe over a cup of coffee, perhaps?).

Christmas | What does Christmas mean to you?

Emmaus x LINetS | This Christmas season, we are collaborating with a local mental health NGO to raise funds for their work in providing heavily subsidised counselling sessions and training work in government schools. The Emmaus team supports this cause as we have friends and family in our community who struggle with mental health issues. We hope that you would join us in encouraging mental health awareness within our local communities.

For every RM25 spent in a single receipt, 50 cents from profits will go to this cause. If you’d like to give or find out more, look them up via Facebook or Instagram. This applies for the entire December.

Who We Are |

Some of you already know us, some are just getting started..

Hello kawans!

Our names are Tze Yang and Liesl (hope you can figure out who’s who hehe), the proud owners of this little place we call our own. It has been a long time coming brewing this place to life. We envisioned to bring together what we’re passionate about here, namely, good food, good coffee, and people (good or not so good we accept both). Thus, RTE was born. We surely could not have done this without encouragement and support from friends, family and our patrons from 2019. Together with our team, we look forward to making your days, not just with good food or coffee but hopefully good conversations as well. We’re not perfect, but we’re willing to give our best.

There’s a lot more to Road to Emmaus, and we’d love to share it with you someday. Perhaps over a cuppa?
