In the summer of 1673, one of the most celebrated soldiers in French history died beneath the walls of Maastricht. His name was Charles de Batz de Castelmore. The world came to know him as d'Artagnan.

Three and a half centuries later, a skeleton was uncovered beneath the floor of a church just minutes from here. A musket ball near the chest. A coin from 1660. A burial beneath the altar, reserved for those of rank. Historians, archaeologists, and the international press have been watching ever since.

His death is recorded as 25 June 1673. This Thursday, 353 years on.

At Château Neercanne, this history is not distant. It is part of the landscape, the city, and the story of this place.

The landscape around Château Neercanne rewards exploration. Valleys that open without warning, hillside routes that take in the full sweep of South Limburg, cycling roads that feel like they were made to be ridden slowly.

We are happy to help you plan the day. The rest takes care of itself.

White asparagus at their peak. Served with cauliflower, land caviar and basil oil, this dish is a celebration of what South Limburg's soil gives us each spring.

In 1698, Baron Daniël Wolf van Dopff shaped the hillside into a statement of status and ambition. As military governor of Maastricht, he built Château Neercanne not only as a residence, but as a place for hosting and representation.

The terraced design overlooking the valley remains one of its defining architectural features. From the beginning, Neercanne was intended to receive guests.

The story continues.

The moment the vinaigrette meets the plate is the moment the dish comes alive.

Haddock, treated with the care it deserves. Paired with oyster, plankton, lime fingers and a sorrel and buttermilk vinaigrette.

A signature dish on the new menu, now also available à la carte. Discover the full menu at Restaurant Château Neercanne.

A carefully chosen selection of dessert wines, presented tableside at Restaurant Château Neercanne. Among them: Château d'Yquem 2016 - a Sauternes from the only estate to hold the title of Premier Cru Supérieur since the 1855 classification. Exotic fruit, honey, and a freshness that lingers long after the last sip.

A ritual as much as a course. Take your time with it.
