Green Office UU

Green Office UU The Green Office is where fresh minds and hands come together to support Utrecht University’s sust However, there is always more than can be done.

We are platform for students and employees of Utrecht University (UU) where sustainable ideas come together and plans are sharpened, with the objective to make the university more sustainable. We also enhance the awareness of students and staff about the sustainable ambitions of the UU. Many activities already take place at the UU on the topic of sustainability. In order to let students and staff

participate in this process, the UU founded the Green Office in 2013, with the help of SOON. The Green Office focuses on the following tasks:

- We organize several events and campaigns which aim to improve sustainability at UU, according to four themes (Mobility, Circularity, Food, and Biodiversity).

- We provide an overview of all the ongoing activities and of all the people within the university who are involved on the topic of sustainability.

- The Green Office provides support to transform ideas of students and staff into running projects. The support provided can be finances, advice, or the Green Office network.

- The Green Office wants to close the gap between students, staff and the university itself. Creating a more sustainable world will not happen by itself; we have to do it together!

Calling all nature lovers 🌳

Have you visited Amelisweerd recently? It is a beautiful forest very close to the university campuses. However, did you know we're only able to enjoy this calm and lovely piece of nature is thanks to decades of activism spanning back to the 1960s? If you're curious to learn more about this history, we invite you to our upcoming Changemakers session with Jos Kloppenborg who has been active in defending Amelisweerd since 1976 as a board member of Vrienden van Amelisweerd, chair of Kerngroep Ring Utrecht, and chair of Milieucentrum Utrecht (since 2018).

💡Ideas on what to bring: anything pre-loved that is still in good condition or needs only a little bit of mending: think of you've finished, a Christmas sweater that deserves some new love, a plant you have propagated or a game that can make someone else happy!

FYI: don't bring anything too big, it should fit in a bag or a backpack. Don't buy anything new for this, and don't bring anything broken!

In times of environmental, social, and political crises, it's common to feel isolated or overwhelmed (and so many other emotions). Let's come together and tap into the collective wisdom!

We invite you to our Green Office Climate Emotions Café. It's a space where we will meet regularly to talk and feel listened to, experience that you are part of a collective and are not alone in your emotions.
