Currently working on a autumn pumpkin soup with fresh rosemary and celery from the garden. The recipe will be online this week! This pumpkin actually comes from my parents garden.

Last week we cooked the first Meat Free Thursday ever at the city town hall in Utrecht! It was a great success :)

We have had a big update! As you might have noticed, our name and website has changed. ‘Lauren Vermue Organic and Vegetarian Catering’ has transformed itself into The Good Food Kitchen. We completely renewed our website and some of the menus. Even though the name has changed, our core values remain the same: good vegetarian, vegan and organic food with a sustainable vision!

Via LinkedIn kreeg ik vandaag al een paar felicitaties dat mijn bedrijf al 4 jaar bestaat, wauw, dankjewel! Het voelt als zo'n korte tijd geleden dat ik voor mezelf ben begonnen dat ik mezelf dit nog nauwelijks heb gerealiseerd.

Ondertussen is mijn bedrijf (en ikzelf overigens ook) al ontzettend veel gegroeid. Het is dan ook wel een leuk toeval, dat ik precies rond deze periode bezig ben met de transformatie van mijn huidige bedrijf Lauren Vermue Biologische en Vegetarische Catering. Naar een naam die wat universeler is en beter klopt voor waar ik nu bezig ben; The Good Food Kitchen. Dit is zelfs mijn officiële handelsnaam sinds vorige week volgens de Kamer van Koophandel! Nu is de website en het concept nog net niet helemaal klaar, maar ik kan wel al een kleine sneak preview geven:

Last week's dinner for GroenLinks Utrecht. On the menu was a Vegeree, a delicious vegetarian version of the South African 'kedgeree', inspired from the book VEG with smoked eggplant, a sweet and sour carrot salad and a cucumber salad with a tahini dressing. As a dessert we made a lemon cheesecake, with some delicious sheep yoghurt.

Yesterday I cooked a completely vegan meal for Green Office Utrecht, for the start of their campaign 'Meat Free Monday'. http://utrecht.nieuws.nl/onderwijswetenschap/47783/green-office-maakt-zich-sterk-voor-meat-free-monday/

On the menu was a Sweet Potato Moussaka with smoked eggplant, a Moroccan vegetable stew with roasted peppers and hazelnuts, and a tabbouleh salad. Served with flatbread, some olive tapenade, smokey bean hummus and a walnut cilantro pesto. As a dessert there was a chocolate date pie with roasted walnuts.

The world of sustainable, vegetarian and organic food keeps on growing, but this made quite an impression on me! On Sunday I was flying back from Toulouse with KLM and they served me an Organic spelt sandwich with scrambled egg! Well done I'd say in getting more sustainable and getting good food to a wider public.
