We’re cooking up authentic Nasi Campur Jawa Timur this summer!
Join us for a cozy backyard-style food day full of delicious East Javanese flavours

Date: Friday, 29 November
Time: 11 AM – 3 PM
Venue: Mount Eden and details sent after booking

Starter Pack – $10
Includes: plain rice, 1 vegetable, fried noodles.

Kopi Tubruk is notably the most traditional and ubiquitous way of drinking coffee in Indonesia. This strong, flavourful coffee may not be everyone’s cup of coffee due to its unique brewing process! Like a Turkish coffee, coffee is brewed without a filter and the coffee grounds remain in the cup.

This is my plant based , no chemical pre-workout nutrition. I have like minimum 10 bags of Kapal Api coffee in my pantry. Yes, my life hasn't started before a cup of Kopi Tubruk.

Ampyang or Gulo Kacang is a traditional Indonesian sweet snack made of raw coconut sugar (gulo jowo) and roasted peanuts (kacang sangrai)🥜🥜🥜. That simple. It is the closest thing to peanut brittle. People often call it gula kacang (Indonesian) or ampyang (in Javanese language). When I was a kid, it was one of my favorite snacks. Just eating it could make me happy. I did not have much pocket money back then, but I could buy one or two pieces of ampyang kacang whenever I wanted.
So, Suraya Donuts took this traditional snack to be part of one its Aneka Rasa Donut Box on April 30th.

AMPYANG STICKY BUN is a 24 hours brioche dough, cinnamon and ginger sugar filling, salted "gulo jowo" caramel glaze, and topped with roasted peanuts.

It is that simple but delicious. No complicated flavours here.

It is Autumn in Auckland, I bet many Indonesians are craving for comfort foods that grows in exponential proportion. This when I bring you Pisang Goreng Donuts (Banana Fritter Donuts).
🥳🥳🥳
Suraya Banana donut fritters are perfectly fried brioche dough with banana chunks and cinnamon, topped with glazed, chocolate chips, peanuts, and chocolate and peanut butter drizzle.). It's a hybrid product.

I am sure many of you have pisang goreng cravings that simply must be quenched!

“Ampyang” Sticky Bun and "Kopi Tubruk" Cinnamon Roll

I was chatting with my Dad in Surabaya and while chatting he was snacking ampyang, a lightning strikes me. Wow…sticky bun..ampyang. Yeah that would work.
Do you know the difference between a cinnamon roll and a sticky bun?🧐
Sticky buns contain nuts (usual pecans) while cinnamon rolls traditionally don't. Sticky buns are baked in a pan with nuts and sweeteners on the bottom. They're flipped after baking, so the gooey bottom becomes the topping. The nuts and the sugar topping make the sticky buns a little denser.
This is why “ampyang” is great for this Indonesian-inspired sticky bun.
Oh sorry, for some people who may not know what “Ampyang” is.
Ampyang is one of the central Javanese foods made from peanuts and brown sugar. Other ingredients added such as ginger and lemongrass will warm up the body. Peanuts are used usually ground nuts that have been roasted ripe.
I’m thinking of one more flavour and it has to be coffee. Yes, it would kopi tubruk cinnamon roll.
