Join us at Epic Taproom for a guided Beer & Whisky Tasting featuring 5 beers, 5 whiskies, cheese, bourbon comparisons, and two brand new pre-release Epic beers.

We’ll kick things off with a Beer + Cheese + Whisky flight, then line up a new pre-release Hazy IPA against bourbon at 40% vs 45%, before moving through Porter + Whisky, a refreshing Beer Wedge palate cleanser, and finishing big with a new pre-release Imperial Stout + Bourbon pairing.

This is a fun, flavour-packed tasting built for beer lovers, whisky fans, and curious humans who enjoy putting excellent liquids next to each other and seeing what happens.

Cheese pairing
Guided tasting experience

ON TAP THIS WEEK - BASS SOLO - Every year after fresh hop season we watch people hit a wall. So many big hoppy beers, back to back. This year we did something different.

Bass Solo is Epic's first malt-led beer — built around biscuity specialty malts, inspired by American Ambers, English Bitters, and classic Munich and Vienna lagers. Clean. Balanced. No hop fatigue.

Deep copper pour, soft biscuit and light caramel on the palate, and a clean dry finish that just asks for another sip. At 4.4% it's built for drinking, not enduring.

Keg only. Primarily at the Epic Taproom, with a few select outlets around NZ. Sometimes one instrument is all you need. On tap now.

Our friends at Brewaucracy - Brewery & Taproom (Hamilton) have delivered something seriously impressive — The Business End (2025) Imperial Stout. If you like stout even a little, you need this. If you don't like stout, this might be the one you fall in love with. It comes off the taps a little cold — hold it in your hands and as it warms, notice how your smile grows as the malt sweetness develops.

We also found a sneaky keg of JIRA Pilsner hiding out back, so that's on now too.

Fire Horse Fresh Hop IPA was our biggest seller again last week — no surprise at this time of year. Everyone wants to get as much fresh hop IPA as they can before it's gone, and it will be gone.

Epic House Band – Taking a Break

The Epic House Band will be taking a break for a little while as our legendary bassist RhysO heads in for knee surgery.

Anyone who’s been at the taproom on band nights knows RhysO doesn’t just hold down the low end for the band. He’s also the man behind the post-band DJ sets and our Saturday Music Trivia, making him a huge part of the music and entertainment vibe at Epic.

Because he’ll be off his feet for a while during recovery, the band will be on pause for a bit.

Please join us in sending RhysO good vibes and fast-healing thoughts so we can get him back behind the bass (and the DJ decks) as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the taproom will keep rolling with great beer, pizza, pinball, and a few different musical surprises along the way.

We’re looking forward to the day the band fires back up again.
