🎉 A huge thank you to Meat on the Move for their very first delivery of mince to the Clutha Budget Advisory Service Food Hub!

We're incredibly excited to see this fantastic initiative up and running, and we're grateful to be one of the organisations benefiting from it. Having quality mince available means we can provide nutritious protein to local individuals and families when they need it most.

Each kit contains the ingredients you'll need to bake a delicious batch of muffins together at home – a great way to spend quality time in the kitchen while making a tasty treat!

Another warning about scams! Be vigilant.

Are you being offered work or recruitment opportunities on Facebook?

Police are warning you to be extremely cautious as there are scammers operating.

We have received reports from Kiwis that have fallen victim to fake online job advertisements or recruitment-style posts.

You will know these are dodgy if you’re being diverted to platforms like WhatsApp or Telegram, before being encouraged to download other mobile applications.

Please be advised that these are scammers operating and are attempting to gain access to your phone to steal sensitive information, including banking and personal details.

Police are also aware other advertisements are offering things like dance classes. Again, you will be prompted to download an unknown app for “bookings”.

It will appear as though you are being contacted on a New Zealand phone number, but these can easily be spoofed to appear as though they’re local.

Unfortunately, there are people that have lost money, and these funds are likely heading offshore.

Always be vigilant with ads on social media. And remember:

• 𝗕𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮: Especially if they quickly want to move you off the original platform

• 𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘂𝗻𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀: Use official app stores (like Google Play or Apple App Store) only.

• 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆: Scammers always try to hurry or put pressure on you.

• 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆: Always check websites and contact details separately

• 𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲: Phone numbers can easily be spoofed

• 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀: If you notice suspicious activity, act quickly and report it to your bank

• 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: Keep your software updated, use security features, and seek professional assistance if your device behaves unexpectedly.

If you believe you’ve been targeted or fallen victim to the scam:
• Contact your bank immediately
• Report this matter to Police online or call 105
• Report the scam to Netsafe
• If your device has been compromised, seek professional assistance

On the Sharing Shelf today we have bananas! Come in before 2.30pm & grab some to make banana muffins, banana on toast (we have bread too), banana smoothies. Heaps of other goodies too.

The Sharing Shelf is restocked daily and available for anyone needing with some extra kai to get them through the week. Donations are also welcome - this week we had some jars of homemade jam dropped off. Open at the Food Hub, 18 James Street, Balclutha, Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Thanks for the thumbs up, John :)
