While the restaurant is in full swing, the mahi behind the scenes never stops.
Today, alongside service, prep and everything else that comes with running a busy restaurant, we also cooked, packed and delivered another round of our FREE community meals.
Today’s menu was roast chicken with a creamy mushroom sauce, baby potatoes and peas. A simple, hearty meal made with one hope in mind… that it brings a little warmth, comfort and a full puku to those who need a little awhi.
These meals have gone out to support members of our community, our kaumātua, and whānau across Motu Pohue | Bluff. While we don’t always share this side of what we do, every single time we do it, know that it still remains one of the most meaningful parts of our kaupapa.
A huge mihi to KiwiHarvest, whose continued awhi makes initiatives like this possible. By rescuing perfectly good food and getting it back into communities, they’re helping us ensure good kai ends up where it belongs, which is on people’s tables, not in landfill. Together we’re able to create stronger, more connected and resilient communities, one meal at a time.
If you haven’t received a meal from us, please don’t feel discouraged. There are still hundreds more to cook and distribute as time, resources and capacity allow. We’ll keep doing what we can, whenever we can.
To everyone enjoying one of these meals tonight, we hope it brings a little comfort and a warm puku.
Ngā mihi nui to KiwiHarvest for walking alongside us in this kaupapa. Together, we’re proving that manaakitanga is strongest when it’s shared x
Much love and appreciation ~ Hayz 💜⚓️
