Claude's Kitchen is situated among the hustle and bustle of Ferry Road and aims to provide a unique casual cafe experience for all to enjoy. Hello good people

As most of you may know there have been some changes taking place behind the scenes at Claudes kitchen, Tom and Paul will be leaving us soon but have agreed to pass on all of their secret recipes, customer gossip and fashion advice to anybody who thinks they can take on all of this highly prestigious information.

In this post specifically, we are looking for somebody to take over from Tom who bakes all of the goodies, fills up all of the pastry with various delicious fillings and tells everybody how he really feels. Tom will be with us for another 3 weeks and is desperate to pass his skills on to anybody willing to learn from him (a person with bakery/kitchen experience would be ideal as Tom is quite mean and hates repeating himself…).

Early start - early finish, Monday to Friday.

(Will also be looking for some barista/front of house superstars very soon. We just need a few more days to work on logistics)

Well, team. The time has come.
This is my last post as the owner of Claudes' kitchen!
It's quite a weird one to write, but I need to say some thankyous, so bear with.

To our families. Thank you for understanding our absences, our tiredness, and supporting us from day one. We love you dearly and can't wait to spend more time with you.

Emma. Thank you for being the best casual fixture we could ask for. Coming in on our busy days, covering sickness, shopping trips, bringing laughter, and love to every conversation.

Ruby. You left school 2 years ago, and we kind of forced you into coming to work for us. Thank you for your sharp wit, your attitude, your immaculate cutlery wrapping skills, and for making us feel old and keeping us humble.

Tony. You were behind the scenes but played a massive role. You started as a customer, became a close friend, and filled a space in my life when my father died that I will forever be grateful for. Thank you for mowing my lawns when I got too busy. Your gardening skills, being a listening ear when I needed advice and just an all-around good bastard.

Flyn. Where do I start. We took a punt on a young man close to 5 years ago, and it was the best decision we ever made. Your work ethic is unmatchable, your attitude is unbeatable, and your friendship is one we will treasure forever. We will be forever grateful for what you have given to us and Claudes. We simply wouldn't be where we are today without you. No work we ever do will ever be the same without you.

And you, our customers. You supported us through economic downturns, pandemics, sickness, roadworks, the death of grandparents, and my father. You are what kept us going for over a decade. We are humbled and will never forget the love you have shown us. We will recall stories you have shared with us for the rest of our lives, and I hope to cross paths with many of you again.

11 years ago, we founded Claudes with the idea of creating a space all felt welcome to be in.
I hope we succeeded.

Hey team.
This is a two part post, so bear with.

1st part. There are now NO CONES within 100 meters of Claudes! So easy parking for all!
So welcome back to those of you who couldn't get in for the last month or so!

2nd part, and this is the one that's going to be hard to write.
After over 11 years at the helm of Claudes kitchen, the time has come for Tom and I (Paul/Claude) to move on.
This hasn't been an easy decision, and one we have changed our minds on many times over the past year or so, but we believe we have done our dash, and the time is right.
But do not fret, New faces will be coming in, familiar ones will be staying on and the new owner is committed to keeping the Claudes true to its core values of great homemade food, great coffee, and probably better chat.

Don't worry. We will still be here until early Nov to help get the new team members up to speed, so things keep flowing as they always have.
You won't even know we have gone!
But this will be our last week in ownership, and then we will be unemployed......
So we really need you to come in and spend lots of money.....
oh, and to say hi and stuff, while I still have the executive power to swear, moan, and complain about you.

I will be more emotional, as you've come to expect, in a post later in the week, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

In the meantime, it's business as usual, so come get some while we are still there to pass some abuse back and forth.

PSA. I will be monitoring comments, so be nice, please. We are fragile atm, and I've told the new owner you're all nice people, so dont make me look bad and welcome him with open arms, like you did us all those years ago.

Hey team.
As hopefully most of you have seen with the note on the door, we will be closed tomorrow.
We have a private function to cater, and also the roadworkers are doing a bug push to get it all finished.
Apparently next week we will have car parks back!

Open Friday as per usual for coffee, pies, donuts and terrible chat.

Apologies, I forgot to post and update.
We are closed today for just the day.
Im just chilling with my fish....
We needed a reset, as the linger effects of the flu have kept us pretty exhausted.
We will be rested and back open tomorrow, ready to go.
And I've heard rumours the cones are not too far away from leaving..... (we will believe it when we see it)

Hey team.
Just a heads up, we will be closed tomorrow for a day off.
We are already down team members with Ruby and Emma sunning themselves in Samoa (yes, we are jealous...) , and now the tip of a cold is poking its way into the rest of us.
So, in the interest of self-preservation, we shall be having a rest day in the hope of being back Friday.
Thanks again for all the support with the roadworks around us. It makes us feel very special.
We think your special too.

Hope everyone managed to enjoy some sunshine today,
I've been sick since we closed, and today was the 1st day I had the energy to do anything, so a walk on Sumner Beach hit the spot.

As you may have noticed, the roadworks are ongoing..... so we will remain closed for the rest of this week.

However, we will be reopening next Monday (1st sept) regardless of what's going on around us. So if you can be bothered navigating the cones or walking a bit longer from where you can find a park, come say hi then.

That is all..... enjoy your week, and see you Monday x
