15 March — a day that changed my life forever.

Many people come into the shop and ask me,
“What does Huzur mean?”

In Turkish, Huzur means peace.
Not just silence or calm… but a deep feeling that your heart is at ease.

But for me, that word took on a much deeper meaning after Christchurch in 2019.

I am a bullet injured survivor.

That day is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It reminded me how fragile life can be, and how powerful kindness, unity, and compassion truly are.

After that moment, the word Huzur was no longer just a beautiful word from my language.
It became a purpose.

A reminder to build something that brings people together. A place where anyone from any background can walk in, share food, smile, and feel welcome.

That’s why this place exists.

Not just to serve kebabs. But to create a space of community, warmth, and peace.

Every customer who walks through our doors becomes part of that story.

I will always be grateful to New Zealand and this community for giving me the chance to stand again, rebuild, and turn pain into something meaningful.

Today I look around and feel something truly special.

What started as a small dream has grown into a place filled with people, stories, laughter, and connection.

And now, we are stepping into the next chapter expanding Huzur.

From surviving… to building something that brings people together.

Huzur started as a word.
Today it is a community.
