🌊 Swim4TheOcean – Passing Through Castlepoint! 🌊
In January 2026, endurance swimmer Jono Ridler set out on his most ambitious mission yet — a 1,400 km unassisted swim from North Cape to Wellington, following the entire length of New Zealand’s North Island. This massive journey is expected to take around 90 days, and if he succeeds, it will be the longest unassisted staged swim in history.
His mission, Swim4TheOcean, is more than a world record attempt — it’s a call to action. Jono is urging our political leaders to finally end bottom trawling in New Zealand waters, a destructive fishing method that damages ecosystems and threatens the health of our oceans.
🌏 This is a cause worth backing.
💙 This is a swimmer worth supporting.
We’re excited that in the next 3–4 weeks, Jono is expected to swim past Castlepoint, and he may even stop in for the night. What an amazing opportunity for our community to cheer him on and show support for healthier oceans and sustainable fishing practices.
