David Shanhun is back from 5:30pm.

TOMORROW - THURSDAY 🪩

Smiths - Blingo from 6:30pm. Flynny's on the mic, the prizes are real, and the room is always good. Come for one game, stay for the night.

Then next door at The Stables, Nocturno from 6pm. Guitar, flute, wine and good food. A completely different kind of Thursday night and honestly a beautiful one.

FRIDAY 🎬

Start at Smiths with Social Club Fridays, dinner and a movie for $45 per person or $119 for the whole family. The easiest Friday night you'll plan all year.

Then The Stables brings you Stars in Disguise, karaoke, but make it a night out. Proper stage, big sound, disco lights. Free entry. Walk-ins welcome. R18.

SATURDAY 🌟

Head into Warkworth for the Mahurangi Winter Festival of Lights, 3pm to 9pm. Parade, light show, food trucks, kids' rides. Take the whole family.

End the weekend at The Stables with Andy Dickson, The Narcs legend, performing his Oz and Kiwi favourites. INXS. Midnight Oil. Crowded House. Exponents. Cold Chisel. If these bands shaped your playlist, this one's for you.

Quiz night was an absolute vibe last night 🧠🍻

The room was rammed, the questions had everyone thinking, and Flynny kept us all on our toes as host. Some seriously sharp tables out there last night.

Last night reminded us why we chose to build our lives here.

What started as a few beers on us turned into one of those nights you simply can't plan. Old friends catching up, new friendships being made, stories shared around the fireplaces, plenty of laughs, a few questionable dance moves... and then, somehow, a surprise bagpiper wandered in and stole the show. Only in Matakana.

To everyone who came along, thank you. Your support over the years has never gone unnoticed. Every lunch, every dinner, every beer after work, every recommendation to friends... you've helped make Smiths what it is today.

We've always said Smiths belongs to the community as much as it does to us, and last night felt like proof of that.

The best part was seeing locals taking the time to stop, connect, laugh and enjoy each other's company. In a world that seems to move faster every week, nights like these are pretty special.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making us feel so lucky to call Matakana home.

We'll definitely be doing it again... although we're not making any promises about finding another mystery bagpiper!

To the people who make us tick and swing the doors open every day, today is for you!

11 years in, and whether you've been coming since day one or you wandered in for the first time recently, you're part of what makes Smiths what it is. Tonight from 5pm, a small thank you to this community for sticking with us through it all.

We have our resident entertainer Flynny on the decks for you, the heaters are cranking, and the team's stoked to be sharing a drink and a few cheeky canapés with you tonight.

Hi Community,

For the last 11 years, you've backed us. Through the busy summers, the quiet winters, the good days, the hard times, and everything in between. So we've made a few additions and alterations which really are just for you.

We've created a new Locals Area at Smiths - a place for the people who call this community home. On Monday 29th June from 5pm, we'd love you to join us for a few beers or vino. Come and meet the team, have a look around, and let us say thank you properly. We'll also have a few goodies to give out as a small token of our appreciation for your support over the years.

No sales pitch. No catch. Just a chance for us to raise a glass with the people who helped make Smiths what it is.

GUYS. GUYS.

My humans brought me to Smiths again.

The puppy platter arrived.
The pats were plentiful.
The smells were excellent.
Several people told me I was a good dog (they were correct).

Safe to say, this is my favourite place in Matakana, and I will be returning every weekend until further notice.

See you on the deck. 🐾
