Saturday afternoons, the Spanish way.

Throughout A Taste of Spain this July, Solera will become a relaxed pintxo bar from 1pm–4pm every Saturday.

Help yourself to a selection of pintxos and tapas from the bar (starting at $6 each), order a few hot dishes from the kitchen, and settle in with Spanish wines, vermouth, cocktails and flowing drink specials.

Inspired by the social bars of Northern Spain, it’s designed for grazing, sharing and staying a little longer. Plus, we’re bringing back the vinyl DJ to serve the tunes.

Not the obvious choice. And that’s the point.

‘Bubbly Beau’ Sparkling Cabernet Franc from Kim Gilkison*, to the best of our knowledge, is the only sparkling red in New Zealand. A style of wine that Barossa Valley in Australia has made their own, this is the perfect way to start a meal in the colder months of winter, alongside a full-flavoured snacks.

*Only available as part of our Wine Experience, an add on to our Chef’s Menu.

A drink at the bar.
A few snacks to start.
A menu designed to be shared.
A bottle that turns into two.
The kind of place you wish you’d found sooner.

A classic New York Sour balances whiskey, lemon and subtle sweetness beneath a float of red wine. Bright, velvety and a little dramatic, it’s the kind of cocktail that lingers long after the first sip.

The choux bun catches a lot of people off guard.

On the menu, it reads simply, with celeriac, parmesan and truffle. Nothing overly descriptive. Then it arrives.

One bite in, and everything changes — it’s rich, savoury, unexpected. The kind of dish people end up talking about long after the table’s been cleared.
