Hi Community,
We are reaching the final stages of selling the Cafe and also getting close to having the new postal service sorted. A lot of time and resources have gone on from myself to ensure we have a more robust mail service for the community. As the COVID pandemic unfolded we lost alot of control of postal services due to Ministry Health orders which was disappointing but out of our control. What will evolve soon will be a robust mail service which you as the community are going to appreciate. It will be future proofed against pandemic shut downs, and possibly allow greater expansions back to NZ postal/international services. So I just ask ...please be patient for a few more weeks as the final bits come together. You know the community is important to me and I'm really please at what's coming together.

Firstly apologies for the late update this week. Sadly got finally bowled over with sickness. As some may know we have been quietly progressing with a sale of the Cafe. Things are progressing and will be super exciting long term to the community. So at this stage we aren't opening this weekend and more updates coming soon. Mail is as usual. Hi Everyone,

Further to our update about the Cafe closing over the coming months.

As this next phase of COVID unfolds, we will be concentrating on maintaining the community postal operations instead of opening the Cafe

This allows us as a team to work in individual bubbles and not cross over working together.
This will ensure that we can keep the postal service going should any of our staff contract COVID.

Naturally changes and limits to parcel collection times will occur. We are a community postal agency not a fully subsidised postal shop.We have worked closely with NZ Post to ensure services (balanced with our own resources) will be there for the community. We are not the only small community postal service in New Zealand making changes for this Omicron phase.

So please be kind - these circumstances are out of our control and it has not been an easy decision to close our Cafe side of the business. The coming months are going to be challenging right across supply chains, transport, delivery etc.

We have therefore designed the hours of operation so that the team can be there for the courier, process early and also be open as people go to work. There will be no weekend hours. However we are staying open later on Wednesday to support RAL staff that come off the mountain after 5 pm.

So our hours of operation until we open again on 1 June will be:

Mon 7.30/ 9 am...Rosie,
Tues 7.30/ 9am....Rosie
Weds 7.30/ 9am. then 4/6pm .... Clark
Thurs 7.30/9am.... Tania
Fri 7.30/9am....Tania

It is likely that as the peak of Omicron passes we will open for a local muffin and coffee morning meaning our postal hours could be extended at that time.

All we ask is for your understanding and to be kind. We will get back to normal once Omicron has been and gone.

Hi Everyone,

Firstly we enter another phase of this COVID journey and we write Kia Kaha once again and thinking of you all.

We chose this photo as so many kiwis like this one, have stopped at the Cafe, shared our experience, and most importantly, have become woven into the fabric of our Cafe.

It's truly been an amazing three years with friends now in every part of the world. It's that energy, friendship, company and laughs we've shared with you that have driven us during COVID times.

Staying ahead of COVID has meant changes, improvement, hard calls and always asking ourselves what's the right decision for our community. Today we made one of those big calls. Not a call about failure, but a call about success.

As of today we closed the Cafe doors until the 1 st of June. We decided that as Omicron unfolds we would close the Cafe side to protect the community postal operation. Currently if we were to be affected as a Cafe team, our stand-down period would be 10 days. That would have a major effect on delivering your postal service.

So shutting the Cafe means we can concentrate on riding out this Omicron wave and ensure the postal service remains operational to the community. New postal hours will be posted soon.

So ....Thanks Everyone.

Morning everyone,

A couple years ago I was looking out across the lake at home and an American came up to me and said these words while reflecting at the same view....."this is paradise"

My comment was there is paradise all over the world I just don't need to go looking for another one. There is also another saying that ...in simplicity, is beauty. Think if you combined the two thoughts you can understand why having my early morning coffee at the Cafe is so special . Paradise and beauty woven together in a feeling of love, peace, contentment.

Come in for coffee. Experience, enjoy and understand this land truly is pounamu on this earth everyone.

Merry Christmas Everyone,

Firstly a big thank you for being part of an amazing year. Reflecting back, our year has quickly vanished and 22 is about to roll around.

There have been many postings about life under COVID from us, and we have appreciated every like and comment back. A big change for us has been positioning the Cafe to maintain work/ life balance for our staff. The awesome part to this has seen not only our Cafe stay open in these uncertain COVID times, but we have managed to stay fresh and positive to our values, purpose and most importantly our community, and you our valued customers.

A big highlight was again picking up Trip advisor top 10% worldwide for Cafe experience. So thank you everyone

So in signing off for Christmas, can we just say.... enjoy your time. It's a special time with so much special meaning, special people... special memories.
