It's Peter's last day at The Villa Cafe.
Peter, our head chef, has been working at The Villa Cafe for over 13 years. A few weeks ago he told us that he would like to finish up as our Head Chef to pursue a career in his other great passion, working with wood and the world of joinery. The plan was for Peter to finish up at the end of the week, but he (and Sarah) have decided that the new chef (welcome, Mohit) is more than ready to take on the role without any more guidance. So today (Wednesday 8th) is his last day.
We know that Peter has made many friends in the local community (and further afield) and won lots of admirers for his delicous food and friendly service.
So please do come on down to the cafe today if you're free and say goodbye and "baie geluk" (hopefully that's Good Luck in Afrikaans!) to Peter.
We asked Peter if he'd like us to post a photo of him with the team out the front of the cafe. He declined - claiming he's publicity shy. Fortunately we've managed to find this photo of young Peter the chef, demonstrating from an early his passion for cooking 👨🍳
