Breaking news…one of New Zealand/Aotearoa's leading artists of the last 50-60 years, Michael Smither, has donated his hand-painted 'design study' for a limited print run to the Celebrate Life ride and auction…for The Cancer Society of New Zealand
'Multi-coloured and eye-catching sculptural shapes - totems. He calls them his ‘Pleasure Boats. They are inspired by tukituki panels, flowers and lei, stars and trees, reflecting the bold, bright exuberance of the Pacific Islands. Each of the colours represents a note on the harmonic scale - so, making music.'
Michael is a great and really lovely man, legend, and in the last few years two of his paintings sold for $340K and $240K...
