Business is tough enough as it is right now. Our entire storefront is obstructed from view and access severely restricted for 2 weeks, without care, communication or compensation so hard calls need to be made.

As a gelato business, Easter/school holiday business helps us survive the winter. We rely on visitors. It pays our rent, expenses and team of young employees.

They’ll tell you we’re open, but we just can’t open to lose even more money when there’s no visitors.

So we will be shutting up The Gelateria until this 14-days of pain goes away.

We’re the only business with this severe level of impact, though all our neighbouring businesses will be suffering too. We tried communicating, I guess because we’re small, it doesn’t matter too much to WCC or the event organisers. They told us to “send them an email”…Thanks for nothing…you didn’t respond to my other ones.

Our Freyberg Beach kiosk/cafe is open as usual and we always have a small selection of our wonderful gelato there! Thank you to our loyal local customers, you’re helping to keep us in business more than you know.
