Leaving the place we have called home for the last time this afternoon.

Words cannot do justice to the gratitude we feel for every message, gesture, and piece of support shared with us throughout this termination period. Without you all, we simply wouldn’t have been able to get through it.

The hurt and disappointment are undeniable. We didn’t just lose a business — we lost a sense of pride, legacy, community, and shared happiness. That loss has been deeply felt.

We will never truly know the reason why this had to happen. We were never given one, and as everyone knows, it was completely unexpected. Whatever comes next for the site we once called home, we genuinely wish those involved the very best of luck.

The Fish set a high standard — something special, unique, quirky, and full of joy. It belonged to everyone. We will miss going to work every single day. To reach this stage of life and still want to work daily only comes from deep pride and a genuine love for what we built.

None of it would have been possible without our incredible team, our loyal customers, our furry friends, and even those who criticised us. It truly takes a village 🩷

As for what comes next — we don’t know yet. We’ll keep you updated. Once we’ve taken some time to heal and process what’s happened, we hope to return.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO ‼️ evansbay_int .A huge shoutout to Priority Demolition who came to the rescue to move the Koru from to Evans Bay Intermediate School.
We know both the cafe and the school are immensely grateful not only that you volunteered to help, but for the care you showed removing, transporting and then re-homing this precious taonga. Thanks again to everyone who made this happen, and especially to Penny and John for trusting us with something so special.
