Thank you so much for your support to the Trappist Community.🙏❤️

If you are in Guimaras, or heading to Guimaras, please support our beloved Trappist monks and priests by purchasing their monastic products from their gift shop at the Trappist Monastery - Guimaras, Philippines.

Buying these goods directly supports their manual labor, charity, livelihood, and monastic life of prayer and simplicity.

If you cannot go directly to their gift shop, look for Trappist-made products in local souvenir shops in Iloilo and Guimaras.

Thank you so much for reacting and sharing the Trappist Monastery - Guimaras, Philippines posts. We, the Trappist Community appreciates it so much.

Please read below the impact of reacting and sharing our posts.

Liking and sharing the Trappist monastery social media posts is important for fostering a digital community. Directly supporting the livelihood of the Trappist monks and priests, and amplifying their message of peace and prayer, particularly for communities like the Our Lady of the Philippines Trappist Abbey in Guimaras, which has previously sought help to feed their monks and priests and maintain their livelihood following pandemic-related income loss.

Key Reasons for Liking/Sharing Trappist Posts (as of 2026):

Livelihood & Sustainability:
Sharing helps promote Trappist handmade products—such as jams, soap, food and religious products—which support Trappist daily needs and charitable works.

Charitable Support:
Some posts call for donations for food, medicine, or to aid in covering medical costs for the brothers.

Spiritual Outreach:
These posts often offer messages of contemplative prayer, silence, and spiritual reflection, providing a respite from the distractions of the modern world.

Vocation Promotion:
By sharing, you help raise awareness of the Trappist way of life (based on the Rule of St. Benedict), which may encourage new vocations for the monastery.

Community Connection:
It keeps the public connected with a place known as a serene sanctuary for reflection and peace, inviting visitors to experience the monastery’s environment.

By interacting with these posts, you are directly helping sustain a "desert of peace" in a busy world, supporting a community that relies on both manual labor and the charity of others.

Again, thank you so much.
God bless us all!

See you,
Trappist monks and priests

A guestmaster (or guest master) is a monk or priest whose primary duty is to welcome and care for guests/retreatants.

The role is deeply rooted in the Rule of St. Benedict, which dictates that guests/retreatants should be received "as Christ".

Key Responsibilities

Arrival & Reception: Meeting guests/retreatants, giving orientations, and assigning rooms.

Hospitality: Ensures guests/retreatants have everything they need, including food, lodging, and a peaceful environment.

Management: He manages the monastery’s guesthouse and oversees the flow of guests/retreatants to ensure it doesn't disrupt the community’s regular prayer and work life.

Mediation: The guestmaster often serves as the primary link between the silent monastic community and the outside world, sometimes introducing guests/retreatants to the abbot or arranging for them to speak with a monk or priest for spiritual guidance.

He acts as the "face of welcome" for the community, ensuring that guests/retreatants seeking silence or spiritual renewal have what they need.

Welfare: Attending to the comfort and well-being of resident guests/retreatants throughout their stay.

Spiritual Significance:
In many traditions, such as the Benedictine and Cistercian orders, the guestmaster is chosen for being "God-fearing" and compassionate, providing a listening ear and a silent witness to monastic life.
