This movie gives us a new approach in love story.
Isa Pa, With Feelings starring Maine Mendoza as Mara who is a frustrated architect and Carlo Aquino as Gali who is a deaf teacher and is also a deaf. The story revolves as they become intimate with each other.
This movie for me is one of the best love story a Filipino film maker ever made. This is not your typical love story, their new approach sa love story ni Gali and Mara will bring you to a very new perspective in a love story or in a romantic movies.
With Maine Mendoza, who is so great sa movie, I could not think of an actress na bagay sa character ni Mara only Maine and she nailed it. Maine Mendoza with her very natural, charming, her subtle humour and yet convincing acting dito na sinamahan pa ni Carlo Aquino who blew me away. When I watched the movie I really thought of Carlo as a deaf kasi ang galing ng pagka act nya dito, nakalimotan ko na hearing si Carlo sa personal. Both actors did very well, especially si Maine dun sa car scene yung nabangga nya yung car ni Carlo and nag breakdown sya, that was so powerful. Syempre, we cannot overlooked their unexpected chemistry. I never thought that they could have this spark kasi ang natural lang ng chemistry nila. Everything was so natural.
The cinematography was so perfect, ganda, especially dun sa part na may pa ilaw effect gamit ang Christmas lights, ganda nun.
And yung score, sobrang galing, minimal lang yung sound na maririnig mo kasi, of course, bingi si Gali and isa yun sa dahilan kung bakit ka madadala sa character nilang dalawa kasi even sa music score dadalhin ka nila sa perspective ni Gali and that was so good. Perfect.
Storyline and screenplay ang ganda din. Yung story is fresh, parang bagong hain na kanin, mainit pa and masarap kasi sinamahan pa ng masarap na ulam which is ang screenplay. Ang dialogue nila ang perfect. And about the ending, many would say na nakulangan sila sa ending, but for me the ending was perfect. That's it. Yun lang. Dapat ganun lang yung ending and what I like sa movie na ito is hindi exaggerated, hindi exaggerated yung story na kailangan gawin nila ang ganito para magustuhan ng mga tao and dapat ganito yung ending para talaga may impact, but sa movie na ito is very different, simple lang yung story and yet very relevant and mas impactful sya sa tao.
It will leave you questioning yourself, are we really willing to be friend with someone who is differently abled and not look at them the way they are? Does our society really accept those person who's differently abled and not look at them the way they are? And can we really love someone who is differently abled and love them like they are normal physically? (yes, they are normal)
This movie is a gem to today's Filipino cinematic universe. I'm a bit sad that there were only 10 people na nakasama namin nanood kasi this movie deserved more recognition than mainstream movies. Please, give this film a chance it is really a good one and is worthy of your money and time.
