CIEKAWOSTKI Z TAJLANDII
W latach 80. uprawy maku zajmowały ok. 8 800 hektarów, a produkcja sięgała ponad 200 ton o***m rocznie. Skala była ogromna.
👑 Co zmieniło sytuację?
Król Bhumibol (Rama IX) postawił na coś zupełnie innego niż same zakazy. W 1969 r. ruszył Royal Project – program, który zamiast niszczyć uprawy, zaproponował ludziom alternatywę.
🌱 Zamiast o***m pojawiły się:
kawa, herbata, owoce, warzywa i kwiaty (ponad 150 różnych roślin).
Do tego drogi, systemy nawadniania, skupy i realna pomoc dla lokalnych wiosek.
📊 Efekt?
✔️ uprawy o***m spadły z 8 800 ha do ok. 110 ha
✔️ produkcja zmniejszyła się o 99%
✔️ w 2003 r. ONZ wykreśliła Tajlandię z listy krajów produkujących o***m
💡 Ciekawostka
Dawne pola o***m to dziś plantacje kawy i herbaty, a wiele tych miejsc żyje z turystyki. Tajlandia jest często podawana jako przykład, że z narkotykami da się wygrać poprzez rozwój, a nie tylko zakazy.
Ta historia pokazuje, że prawdziwa zmiana zaczyna się tam, gdzie ludzie dostają realny wybór
🌿 O***m in Thailand – a surprising story 🇹🇭
Not many people know that just a few decades ago, northern Thailand was part of the famous Golden Triangle – one of the world’s largest o***m-producing regions. For many hill-tribe communities, this wasn’t a “business” but the only way to survive.
📉 How was it before?
In the 1980s, o***m poppy fields covered around 8,800 hectares, and production reached over 200 tons of o***m per year. The scale was massive.
👑 What changed everything?
King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) chose a very different path than simple bans. In 1969, the Royal Project was launched – a program that didn’t just destroy o***m fields, but offered people a real alternative.
🌱 Instead of o***m, farmers began growing:
coffee, tea, fruits, vegetables, and flowers (over 150 different crops).
The project also invested in roads, irrigation systems, collection centers, and direct support for local villages.
📊 The results?
✔️ o***m cultivation dropped from 8,800 ha to about 110 ha
✔️ production decreased by around 99%
✔️ in 2003, the UN removed Thailand from the list of major o***m-producing countries
💡 Fun fact
Former o***m fields are now coffee and tea plantations, and many of these areas live off tourism today. Thailand is often cited as a global example that drugs can be fought through development, not only repression.
This story shows that real change begins when people are given a genuine choice 🇹🇭🌱
