In Nigeria, soup is more than just food…it is tradition, family, memories, and a beautiful connection to home.
Every region has its own special flavours, but these classics have won hearts across Nigeria and beyond. In fact, I know that you won't think I am exaggerating if I name some of them WAZOBIA soups 😅!
Egusi Soup
The famous king of Nigerian soups! Made with ground melon seeds, vegetables, rich spices, and your choice of meat or fish. Perfectly enjoyed with pounded yam, eba, or fufu.
Efo Riro
A delicious Yoruba vegetable soup packed with leafy greens, assorted meats, ponmo, dry fish, and traditional flavours that bring comfort with every bite.
Afang Soup
A treasure from Southern Nigeria, made with Afang leaves, waterleaf, meats, and dry fish. A true taste of heritage!
Ogbono Soup
Loved for its unique texture and rich taste. Made from wild mango seeds and cooked with flavourful ingredients that make every swallow unforgettable.
Banga Soup
A Niger Delta favourite prepared from fresh palm fruit extract, special spices, fish, and meats-a true celebration of Nigerian cooking.
