Sometimes I imagine that certain people would get to their 90’s, look back and think ,” Mhen, we’ve all been played”..

First kindergarten
Then first grade, Second grade ..
Got to high school, an exciting transition yeah?
“Don’t worry this is the hardest part” Like we were told in ISI before writing JAMB😏
Finally made it to college,
Pushed until they finally graduated and became free, innit? 😂

But then the race for success starts
When will you marry?
They married.
Where are your Children?
They had Children.

They worked, invested..
You’re 60! What legacy are you leaving?
That relentless pressure is no respecter of Age.

One day, they wake up expecting to feel accomplished, but instead, feel cheated.

Ever seen a six-tier cake fall moments before a wedding?

It happened to my mum, a seasoned cake artist, already 15 years in business at the time..

Let me paint the picture for you: after weeks of hardwork - baking ,sugarcraft, Cake Sculpting etc - my mum delivered a stunning six-tier wedding cake to an event. Just before the celebration began,the cake toppled over and fell - every baker's literal nightmare.
I must have been about 14 years old then, guys, my stomach hurt just thinking about the amount of work that had gone into it, especially the sleepless nights of the immediate past days.
It got worse when I considered the implication of what just happened. Where would we get another cake for this wedding? Oh goodness - the Bride! Imagine the chaos and panic that welled up on my inside.
But as I rushed towards the cake stand behind my mum, I noticed she was very calm, even smiling ….what?? As she sprung into action quickly, carefully putting the cakes on trays and running back stage.

She asked one of her workers to bring her tool kit from the car , some extra flowers and fondant paste as she performed her magic. Everyone was helping but I was so distracted watching their reactions to what had just happened.
I noticed one of the workers even tearing up , so yes , she validated the emotion of panic I had been feeling .
This was actually Bad.
But my mum was so focused on finding quick solutions and she was doing it creatively ! In the end,she managed to salvage five out of the six tiers, redesigning the cake into something even better.
The bride had no idea(except that her cake was a layer short), she was thrilled, everyone was happy.

I dare say moments like these were all the masterclasses I needed in resilience and raw grit. The lessons went beyond the kitchen and into the core of emotional intelligence. Once I got the baton to run my own cake business, I was almost hard to stop. If I didn't do it, it wasn't because I thought it was impossible. Even now in my Growth career journey ,these experiences have been a major guiding light. In the face of challenges, you can guess what kicks in..
