När media missar ...att tala om klimatet.
The Guardian rapporterar: “Most of the UK media stories about the record-breaking heatwave that struck in June failed to mention the climate crisis, analysis has found.
Nearly 2,500 articles about the extreme heat – when temperatures topped 37C, a record for the time of year – appeared in the UK’s nine main national daily media publications. But nearly three-quarters of them – about 72% – left out any mention of global heating or the climate, according to the analysis by the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU).”

“Gareth Redmond-King, head of international at the ECIU thinktank, said: “The link between all three recent periods of extreme heat and climate change is indisputable.”
He added: “If recent heatwaves are the symptom, then climate change is the illness, and net zero is the medicine. When public understanding of this link is so low, it’s vital that the dots are joined between these three concepts to help make us all better.”

INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT
The United States on Monday announced a sweeping campaign against the International Criminal Court (ICC) that could include further sanctions and other measures, accusing it of posing "an intolerable threat to US sovereignty."
The Trump administration said it would pressure OTHER countries to withdraw from the court, marking a sharp escalation in the US effort to isolate the Hague-based institution and starve it of political and financial support.

Already in February 2025, shortly after President Donald Trump returned to office, Washington slapped asset freezes and travel bans on several ICC officials over an arrest warrant issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the war in Gaza.

Established in 2002, the ICC prosecutes individuals accused of the gravest atrocities, including war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

The United States has launched a campaign to dismantle the International Criminal Court, calling the Hague-based institution “an intolerable threat to US sovereignty.”

Varje år transporteras miljontals djur inom och från EU under förhållanden som orsakar enormt lidande i form av stress, rädsla, utmattning, hunger, törst, skador och död. Transporterna kan vara i veckor och till och med månader och pågå i extrem värme.

Just nu har EU en historisk chans att stärka skyddet för djur som transporteras. Men processen är osäker, och utan tillräckligt stöd för djuren riskerar vi att få en ny lagstiftning som liksom dagens, inte ger djuren det skydd de behöver.

Genom att skriva under ✍️ det öppna brevet (du finner på länken nedan) är du med och visar Europaparlamentarikerna att medborgare i hela Europa vill se en starkare djurskyddslagstiftning och ett slt på de plågsamma djurtransporterna.

Export av råvaror (t ex kako, kaffe, litium) med volatila priser är ett gemensamt problem för flertalet Afrikanska länder. Råvaruexporten innebär dessutom att landet går miste om förädlingsvärde, arbetstillfällen, teknisk utveckling.

Idag 7 juli 2026 firas World Swahili Language Day på tema “Kiswahili for Peace, Solidarity and Global Economic Diplomacy.”

UNESCO skriver: ”Swahili har sitt ursprung längs den östafrikanska kusten och har formats genom århundraden av kulturellt utbyte; språket har blivit en enande kraft och ett kommunikationsmedel för miljontals människor i Afrika och övriga världen. Det talas idag av fler än 200 miljoner människor globalt och är officiellt språk inom Östafrikanska gemenskapen (EAC), Utvecklingsgemenskapen för södra Afrika (SADC) och Afrikanska unionen (AU).”

UNESCOS generalkonferens 2021 antog en resolution om att instifta Världsdagen för swahili/World Kiswahili Day, som firas årligen den 7 juli – ett datum som senare även godkändes av FN:s generalförsamling i juli 2024.
Swahili är dessutom, sedan november 2025, det sjunde officiella språket vid UNESCO:s generalkonferens, vid sidan av arabiska, kinesiska, engelska, franska, ryska och spanska.

NewAfrican interesting interview (direct link in comment field) with Jean-Louis Guigou, a geographer, futurologist and founder of the Institute for Economic Foresight in the Mediterranean World (IPEMED), who has published "Le monde en trois verticales".
Contrary to analyses predicting a return to chaos or the end of globalisation, he puts forward a different interpretation: the world is currently reorganising itself around major regional blocs. In his view, Europe’s future now lies in a shared destiny with the Mediterranean and Africa.
…and this is why:
- Because the interests of the two continents are deeply intertwined. If Europe remains isolated, it will age and gradually become marginalised. If Africa remains isolated, it will continue to be subject to an economy based on the export of raw materials and the import of processed goods. We must break free from this long-standing pattern.
- For a long time, we assumed that people from the Global South had to travel northwards to access capital. I now believe that capital, technology and production capacity must flow more towards the Global South.
- Africa lacks neither resources nor energy, nor a young population. What it lacks is sufficient industrialisation and balanced partnerships that enable greater value to be created locally.

In this interview, Jean-Louis Guigou argues that the world is reorganising around three major regions, with Europe's future increasingly tied to the Mediterranean and Africa. He says deeper industrial cooperation, investment and shared long-term vision will be key to unlocking mutual prosperity.
