Some stories aren't written in books. They're written in recipes, passed from one pair of hands to another.
Back in the 1970s our beloved founder, the late Hjh Saleha (Mak Leha), began selling what was then simply called Roti Telur. It was humble, honest, and made with love. Then came a regular customer. A Chinese uncle who couldnt stop talking about it. Whenever someone asked where to find this delicious roti, he'd simply say, "Go buy from the orang Boyan la." Little by little, people stopped asking for Roti Telur. They started asking for Roti Boyan. And just like that, the name stucked. There were no social media, online marketing, etc in that era. The only marketing we had was words of mouth. What began from a humble pushcart has over the decades found its home in a coffeeshop. Every step forward was built on the same foundation. Pure hard work, sincerity, and a recipe that never needed changing.
More than 50 years have passed, one thing has remained untouched: THE RECIPE. Some recipes are made to be improved. Ours was made to be preserved. The same Roti Boyan. The same sambal. The same flavours that Mak Leha lovingly created all those years ago. From one generation to the next, we've protected this recipe not because we're afraid of change, but because some things are simply too precious to be changed.
While our journey continues to grow, our roots will always remain the same. From pushcarts to a coffeeshop stall today, and inshaallah to wherever Allah swt allows us to go next, we'll keep growing. But never at the expense of the taste and tradition that brought us here.
Us here at Dapur Legend, we promise to ensure that the Roti Boyan will always taste the way Mak Leha intended it to. Thank you, always, for being part of our story and for helping us carry this legacy into the next generation(s) inshaallah.
