Our Roadt Classroom Sessions for July concluded today with some of the most spirited and enthusiastic coffee folks (pun unintended).

The class proved to be a great overview session comprising a mix of theory with fundamentals, actual roast demonstration with coffee with merv test roasts tryout as well as input from reputed green bean supplier 2nd Mile Specialty Coffee In addition, we also looked at coffee quality gatekeepers DiFluid that helped us ascertain the state of the greens before roasting.

Of course it wouldn’t be a roast class if everyone left without a sample of today’s roast for take home and brew. Want to be part of our next month’s session?

This month’s introductory roast class is back once again and open for signups.

Learn the fundamentals of coffee greens, origins and processing and their impact on roasting all on the R2 Pro roaster. Students will get an understanding on roast profile curves through instruction and tasting of samples brewed on the spot.

The instructor is none other than Mr Mervin Lim, a familiar figure with over 10 years of experience in various capacities including but not limited to roaster, judge, consultant, barista etc.

That’s not all - every student will get a chance to experience actual roasting on the spot and leave with coffee roasted on the day itself. In addition, other critical pieces of the roast puzzle such as quality control through analyzers and new tech such as the OmniFlux will be showcased.

We are limiting seats to 15 per session, so sign up early to avoid disappointment.

It was a full class for the April’s Classroom Sessions. Participants fired away a myriad of questions concerning roasting and we were happy to showcase a coffee roasted two ways and the cup differences it made.

Best storage methods, things to look out for during the roasting process and sourcing for greens were raised to the attention of trainer Mervin Lim.

One thing is for sure, there is no better time to get into roasting and we are here with a great support system with industrial connections to get you started. See you at the next session.
