Stefano Roncoroni is another Italian who is keen on tasting and creating great food. Since his teens, he has always made time to exercise his cooking talent within the family circle and with friends. His passion for good food has grown bigger as he gained more awareness for good ingredients. He liberally joined the organic trend in his late teen. His joy for organic produce goes beyond the course

of healthier diet, but also the tastier cooking. Our cuisine is inimitably Italian, supervised under the watchful and expert eye of 'Chef Stefanoi' from Lake Como. When we opened our first bistro 15 years ago on Thapae Road, Chiangmai was a much smaller town. Our Cappuccino and Caffé Latte with fresh croissants was simply a delightful breakfast option to many, and a pasta dinner with a glass of good wine was a nice little treat after sunset. Today, Chef Stefano offers a full range of Italian cuisine in the warm interior of little Italy with terra cotta walls and arched windows at GIRASOLE and in the atmospheric theatre setting of Commedia dell' Arte at PULCINELLA da Stefano. Diners can get anything from original Italian pizzas, pastas, bean soup, Risotto, Carpaccio, Calamari, Fish Meunieur ... to the exquisite Baked Scallops in Salmon Mousse Gratin, Duck Breast in Balsamic Vinegar & Blueberry Sauce and the traditional Osso Buco. All of us at GIRASOLE and PULCINELLA da Stefano are committed to the creation of wholesome and healthy Italian cuisine, served in relaxed surroundings, simply, and without pretension. Whether you have become 'one in our family' through repeated visits, or a new customer trying us for the first time, you may be assured of a genuine welcome, and good old-fashioned hospitality. Almost everything served in our restaurants are house-made in order to guarantee freshness and non-additives. Breads, pastas, sauces, dressings, gelato, yoghurt, and soft cheeses are made by our dedicated crew. Only the finest and freshest ingredients are allowed into our kitchen, and whenever available, we buy compost-grown, pesticide-free products in preference to all other sources. Some fruits, vegetables, beans & rice come from our own organic farm. Our heart is in this not only for environmental reasons and good health, but also to support the small organic farmers. We have secured both the co-operation and encouragement from several local bodies, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Department of Public Health, Thailand Restaurant Association, and Chiangmai University. One of our objectives is to encourage other caterers in Chiang Mai to do the same, and see this trend expand to the benefit of everybody.
